If my passport is taken from me during while in SA, what about return flight?

I'm planning to visit Saudi Arabai to do Umrah this March. I enter via Jeddah but exit via Medina. If my passport is taken away from me during my stay in SA, how do I get it back for my departing flight?

Thanks,
Rumesha

I have been for Umra many times but entered Saudi Arabia on a business visa.

I kept my passport with me at all times. If you are going as part of a package then your tour operator may take your passport and exchange it for a sort of ID card. since the operator would have planned your return they will give your passport back. this is what happened at Haj. if anyone has been on Umra with an operator then perhaps they can clarify or correct me.
