Anthony Bourdain back in Beirut

In 2006, Anthony Bourdain came to Beirut to film an episode for his famous TV show No Reservations. Unfortunately, a few days after arriving here, the war with Israel began and it ended up being a show on his evacuation from Beirut.

Well, Anthony Bourdain came back to finish filming that episode :). Here is an article from Newsweek on the subject.

Now who is going to tape it and send it over??? :D

Thanks for the headsup. I checked the TV listing and found it. in deed it does air tonight. I've setup my Tivo to record it. it should be a great episode.

ok finally watched the episode. let me tell you thank god for DVRs and tivos. lol

They had both of the episodes back to back. I first watched the original 06 episode. which maybe I shouldn't have watched. it brought up some scary thoughts and memories, of when I was there during that war and and the escape route that I had to take.

Anyways getting to the new episode, the new 2010 episode. I thought it was a great episode. I think he hit some of the great old school landmarks, plus mixing in the new chic that Lebanon has integrated very well.

the show started with a short recap of what happened in 06. he met up with the people from last time, like everyone else, he asked them if they stayed or left and what happened and so on.

But then the episode went where it should go. FOOD. He went to these locations:
Le Chef
Farmers Market
Taulet
Onno
Gemaizy
Frank Wurst hotdogs (part of the Gemaizy walk)
Falafel Sahyoun
Baalbak ruins
Furn Zahra2 (in Baalbak)
Masaya vineyards

As I said, I think he did a great job of integrating the great food, with the new chic lebanon has become. I would have loved to see more integration of the old school food places. The ones I used to go to, and the ones I go to every time I'm in Lebanon. I think he should have gone, to Barbar, bliss house, kalaa chicken, zeit u za3tar. sea sweet, to just name a few. But I think it was a great episode, that while watching it, I wanted to book my flight, now I have to sit here and wait till December.

I hope I did a fair review of this episode for you guys.

thanks cbrown. I should try it next time im in town, if I can.

Eating at places like Le Chef for me, end up being compared to the food made at home, being from lebanon and I personally enjoy the places I used to love to go, when I lived there.

like I mentioned before, Barbar, bliss house, kalaa chicken, station, KFC (yes american KFC, its much better there). sea sweet. Oh man, I need to loose more weight, before I go in december.
