Connecting in Dubai

Nothing I could find by searching.

Looks like I will be connecting through DXB which I have never done before. Inbound from BLR on Emirates in Biz and outbound to DC on UA in Biz or 1st (if SWU clears). Any tricks to connection there? It appears Emirates uses Terminal 3 but UA Terminal 1. Also, what is the lounge option? I'll be there about 3 hours if things are on time. Thanks for any hints.

DXB connection

I did the exact same EK to UA connection about 18 months ago - T1 and T3 are connected, so it's a quick walk. I actually did UA OLCI before leaving BLR just in case they wanted to see an onward boarding pass in order to go through flight connections in DXB and re-enter the secure boarding area (instead of making you enter UAE and then come back again). As it turned out, they didn't ask me for it - but you may want to do it anyways so you wouldn't be stuck having to exit the airport and wait for the UA ticket counter to open.

Re: lounge, the only option is the LH lounge near gate 128-129 (I believe) - was just there a few days ago and the food was pretty good, but the internet is quite slow.

Hope this helps! PM me if you have any more questions.

I have done this connection too. It was a long walk for me, but nothing unreasonable. The two terminals are connected. The lounge is actually a Star Alliance lounge, used by all *A carriers. It was pretty crowded when I walked in as there were multiple flight leaving. It became fairly empty the hour or so before the UA flight (DXB-IAD) I was on. Great shopping in the airport too!
