Cool Hotels - Rochester, NY
Any recommendations for cool, boutique type hotels in Rochester, NY? It’s a short, one night trip and I really do not like this city so I’m trying to spruce it up a bit.

Don't know about boutique-y, but I would avoid the downtown area unless you have to be there - I thought it was definitely sketchy at night.
The one time I dropped off my colleague at the Hyatt downtown, someone er... "disreputable looking" knocked on the car door while I was trying to reprogram the GPS back to my hotel - scared the bejeezes out of me! As a single woman, I can tell you I was VERY scared (thankfully, he was just looking for "cab money"). My colleague told me the area is okay in the morning, but not so much at night. I usually works in the burbs though, and those areas are fine. I like the surrounding area - but NOT downtown! Good luck! DG |
I would agree with this, if you can stay out near greece, ny you are better off.

The Del Monte Lodge or the Woodcliff Hotel (it may have a new name) -both boutique and nice by ROC standards. The Hyatt is an OK hotel but downtown ROC is a joke. try the Strathallan hotel on east Avenue as well....
