IAD question

I have a flight that leaves IAD next Wednesday at 1.53 PM. Can anyone tell me the approx. taxi cost and time from my office downtown Bethesda? Is a taxi the quickest way? What time would you recommend I call to get picked up?

Thanks!

Ian

I think taxi will be fastest at that hour, or almost any other hour, unless the bridge is closed, in which case you would metro to dc, metro back to vienna, and cab from there. on more than one occasion, the wilson bridge was closed for some 10 hrs . could happen to the american legion bridge also.

I think $50-75 covers most cab fares to dulles from md and dc.

Hi Ian,
The best way to get to IAD from Bethesda is the Washington Flyer Taxi. Their number is 703-661-6655. Their fares are metered. At that hour the beltway should not be that bad so I would have to cab pick you up at 11:15-11:30. The meter should run to about $55. It is about a 45-55 min ride to IAD

Have a safe flight

mc/visa/amex plastic all work fine with the wash flyer service. Call ahead and place a reservation for the taxi, it's much easier to be on their schedule rather than doing a last minute call.

Call Barwood Cab to get to IAD. Cheaper then Washington Flyer (should run around $55.

Was this for construction?

Why? I know there have been some well-publicized closures and/or detours around the Wilson Bridge as a result of ongoing construction. These are usually weekend closures, but what effect would this have on the American Legion Bridge??

Here is a thread from someone who doesn't care for the Washington Flyer Amex processing times.

You want to go where? Nov 12, 2007 6:18 am

While I agree that the Wilson Bridge has had more than its share of problems (one of the reasons they are replacing it, eh!), let's be clear that complete closure or traffic delays of the type described here still happen only a few times a year. As far as the American Legion Bridge (the one the OP will be using) is concerned, problems of this nature are much less frequent, and there are alternatives.

Another option to consider would be a car service. It should run $65 from IAD to Bethesda and you will be met at baggage claim by a uniformed driver who will carry your bags. A little more civilised and a lot more comfortable. Well worth the extra $10.

On the very rare occasions that I end up going all of the way out to Dullest, that's the only way I'll go.
