Public Transit from DC to BWI?

I am going to be in Washington, DC without a car and my flight leaving town is from BWI. I went online and saw that WMATA has a bus that goes from Greenbelt to BWI. Has anyone taken this? Experiences? Thanks!

I'd take the MARC train (Penn Line) from Union Station - pretty quick trip, probably in the 20-25 minute range.

I've taken that bus from the Greenbelt station a couple of times. It takes much longer than taking a MARC train from Union Station. The MARC trains run frequently and only cost around $6.00.

Not yet mentioned on this thread: MARC doesn't run on weekends. Otherwise it is much quicker than the Metro setup. There's still a short bus ride, shuttle bus from BWI Rail Station to the terminal, but that's just maybe 5 minutes.

On weekends the Metro gets more appealing because while it's still slower it's much cheaper than the Amtrak train which is the only Union Station-BWI Rail option running on Sat and Sun. (The bus is cheaper than MARC too, but only by a couple bucks, so not so worth it.)

BTW, you want the Penn Line from Union Station, not either of the other two MARC lines that leave from there side by side. (And, occasionally, stacked two deep on the same track, from what I remember.)

Crazy means don't take the Brunswick or Camden line ;)

Well, the bus itself isn't particularly short.

But the ride is. :D

The MARC train taking less time really depends on where your coming from and when you need to get to the airport. Witht he MARC train you need to get to Union station, take the train, then a short bus ride.

Many times I find that taking the Metro to the b30 means i can leave later.
