Can anyone recommend a good car service for an early morning pick-up (5AM) near Union Station? My cousin is heading to Costa Rica with a few bags for ten days and doesn't want to schlep them over to Union Station to catch a cab or the Metro. Thanks!

I've used washington sedan in the past with no problems. From other reports, you might want to try super shuttle and hope they don't have enough demand for the van and send a cab instead.

I have used Excutive Sedan for years and never had a problem with them. 1-800 296 3300. My regular driver has gone over to Nationwide Limo Service. Either one has good service. 1-703-823-7200.

Red Top runs both a regular taxi company and a sedan service. The sedan service can pick up and drop off in DC. The taxi can only pick up in DC if you are going to VA (ie DCA or IAD).
I use both and have never had any trouble.

I downgraded to Red Top Taxi and as long as I give them enough notice to set an appointment/pick up time, I've had no problems. It's been too long since I mentioned the company above or used them to comment.

I used Red Top yesterday and they arrived promptly, as promised, to the pickup in Falls Church.
The problem was the driver. He was one of those 20 mph in the left lane types and by the time that I got to DCA I sure had ants in the pants.
The other problem was that the vehicle was a quite uncomfortable van that increased in discomfort geometrically as the driver dawdled down Rte 50 managing to get caught at every traffic light.
