DCA - DE Transportation Ideas
 

My parents are flying into DCA and then coming to DE. They really only need transportation from/to airport.

Anyone have any recommendation for one way (returning in New Castle, DE or PHL) or 9 day rental (9/2 - 9/11)? Other possibility would be public trans/train all the way to Wilmington or to a different airport that has a better rental deal.

So far, using codes I found on the various car rental forums, most of my 9day searches show a $300ish cost.

Take the Metro or a taxi DCA the Amtrak station, and check www.amtrak.com for schedules and prices. Typically $30-$50 per person o/w DCA to Wilmington. There is a new cheap chinese bus service but I doubt if they are interested.

A better airport for this would be BWI since the rail station is pretty much right there, with a free and frequent shuttle. Amtrak train BWI-DE is an easy ride.

You can use Orbitz to check rental deals at all 3 airports.

There is a shuttle bus from BWI airport to BWI train station. The fare would be slightly less. Take a regular train, not the Acela.
