IAD security checkpoint expanding
 

4 more security checkpoints will be added at the west end of the current setup. They should be operational by Friday, 11/19 - adding to peak capacity.

Anybody have a recent security wait time experience on a weekday morning 6-7 AM hour? I don't trust TSA's estimated 13 minutes!

As it happens we went through IAD's security checkpoint this (Thursday) morning at about 6:35am. It took 5-7 minutes (I wasn't clocking it but it was very quick). The new mobile lounge route from Main to C now takes at least 10 minutes. But we were in the C17 RCC by 6:55am.

On Wednesday January 5, around 3:30pm, it was also 5-10 minutes for security. The mobile lounge, on the other hand,........

Thursday, 23 December approx. 5:00 a.m. (first in line at DL counter for complex int'l itinerary and lots of bags, proceeded directly to checkpoint) - approx. 20 minutes at TSA checkpoint.

Lots of holiday travelers, of course. TSA staff seemed to have an "OK, here we go, holiday travel begins" attitude. Moving people along, watching out for potential problems (have a laptop in there?, don't have to but might want to take that belt off, etc.) and attempting to move things along.
