For some of the best German food in the area- take a trip to Helmer's. It is at the end of Washington Street. Go with a group-- and share some of various specialties.
You could spend days sampling their selection of beers.

I definitely agree. Helmer's rocks!!!

Awesome beer selection, and plenty of taps too. Pretty darn good Sauerbraten as well(though not as good as Mom's). Try the mixed grill for a taste of Munich.

The service can be a little slow at times, but I'm usually so hammered by the end, that I don't care.
