Construction at DCA
Can anyone update me on the construction project at the DCA airport? At Christmas, I believe they only had the arrival gate/entrance open for Delta airlines. Seems like it has been several years since this started and one would think it would soon be completed.

It will be.
For the moment, various entrances and levels are closed from time to time. Nothing particularly worrisome as everything is signed on the approach roadways and in the terminal itself depending on whether you are departing or arriving. |
Let's move this over to the Mid-Atlantic forum for further discussion. Thanks! :) /JY1024, TravelBuzz moderator

Construction updates and access info is available here:

MWAA also posts a slide deck updating construction progress for each board meeting. Here’s the latest, which estimates that the “Secure National Hall” project will wrap up in Q3 of this year: https://www.mwaa.com/sites/default/f...ct_journey.pdf

Reports indicate that the new concourse may be open 3 months early, in April 2020. These gates are replacing the notorious 35X "gate", which was a ramp-level door to buses for RJs.

New north concourse will be done early as drewguy notes. The new security checkpoints are delayed and won't be ready until at least Q3 and possibly into Q4 2021. With the new hall being behind security we will see a new American Express Centurion Lounge.
