Motel 6 Roanoke Airport: What It Was Originally

There's this hotel near the Roanoke airport that is motel-style and from the research I did do, it was originally opened in 1976, but not as a Motel 6. According to an old Tripadvisor review, that hotel started as a Holiday Inn. It was later taken over by Hampton Inn from some unknown year until 2013-2014-2015 when Motel 6 took over. Seeing a Youtube video on it when it used to be a Hampton (credit to tjelevatorfan and dieselducy), there are clues the fitness room and meeting room used to be hotel rooms at one point. Was it true that hotel actually started as a Holiday Inn back around 1976, only for Hampton to take over a decade or two later and then have Motel 6 take over?
