DCA construction
 

I will be flying into DCA next week and am wondering if they have finally finished construction for both the arrival and departure entrances? Thanks!

Most airports never finish with construction. As soon as one round wraps up, another begins!

No not even close. When I was there about 3 weeks ago, they hadn’t even started laying the steel frames for the new checkpoints yet.

I was there last week. The impact of the construction on arrival/departure is minimal, but it is very much still in progress.

I think this construction runs through the end of 2021. If it ends up like the Metro extension to IAD, construction will go on for years after the scheduled completion. I think the part of the project that is furthest along is the new AA commuter plane concourse to replace the infamous bus gate 35X (on the opposite side of the "new" north terminal from where DL is).

Been through there several times over the past few months. I simply use a parking app, like Parking Panda, and park at a very nearby hotel and use its shuttle. This avoids the driving headaches. Parking at the Crystal City Hilton is really good because it has an on demand shuttle service vs. Renaissance that has a very strict schedule.

I park at the Huntington metro long-term parking spaces, and catch the first train out at 0500. I usually am through TSA no later than 0525, in time for the 0600 bank of flights. If my flight leaves at 0630 or later, I can use the Franconia-Springfield metro long-term parking.

The biggest impact has been figuring if Lyft/Uber are on the upper or lower level. Recently they seem to usually be on the lower level, outer curb.
