Best streets/spots/venues for Philly nightlife?

In Philly, what are the best streets for nightlife/clubbing/bars? Any particular venues/clubs/bars you recommend?

Rittenhouse Square has the most lively restaurant scene. Old City has plenty of bars and clubs. South Street has always been known for it's people watching (maybe I'm showing my age). Manayunk also good for a crawl (further from down town). The hipsters have taken over Northern Liberties and established a nightlife stronghold. I guess the point is Philly is an older town that has stuff to do all over the place.

There’s plenty of neighborhoods that have nightlife and clubs. Unlike some places like (for instance) Nashville or Memphis, Philly’s are not concentrated in any one specific area. Probably Old City has the highest density of bars, but clubs with dance floors are all over the place...there are many post-industrial buildings in Philadelphia (north of Vine St., east of Broad, in a large area) that lend themselves to this kind of use. Fishtown is the latest happening spot—very hipsterish but there are still plenty of places there where this non-tattooed 52-year-old feels comfortable.

Arrow Suggestion

The last time I was in Philadelphia, after the Craft Brewers Conference ended, I wound up at Fergie's Pub which, while not a craft beer bar, was very satisfying, to the extent that I logged on FT to post about it.
I stayed in Old City. Another venue I enjoyed was the Khyber Pass Pub.
More suggestions may be found at the Philly Beer Week World-Wide Web site. It is updated all year long.

As far as nightclubs, if you are into EDM, you may get lucky and see either a national act or an up-and-coming act at Noto, When 1500 was Rumor, it used to be the place to go to see international EDM acts, but it was sold a while ago and I don't think I've seen anything big there since.
