slawecki,
compared to being in the Capital Hill area. Latter could take 30 minutes longer easily.

with the advent of $4 a gal gas, in non-rush hour, one can drive 60 mph from capitol hill to dca on the southeast/southwest freeway. travel time, about 10 min.

With the new speed cameras on that road, driving 60mph might turn out to be an expensive proposition if you don't know the camera locations. Not that OP will be driving, but just a note for those who haven't been in town lately.

If I recall correctly, it's 40. I know I got a ticket (from a speed camera) for going 51 and that cost me a hundred bucks.

Indeed - as controversial as speed cameras are in DC, this is perhaps one of the top offenders.

There was (and there still may be) a Ruth's Chris in Crystal City. Folks who worked at the Crystal Palace used to eat there often.

There still is. If the OP is staying in at the Crowne Plaza in Crystal City for one night, there are plenty of good places to grab a quick meal along Crystal Drive (b/w 23rd and 20th there are at least a dozen including Jaleo and Ruth's Chris).
