What does IAD mean to you?

Due to some of my recent terrible experiences at Dulles (plus the many recent posts about the ridiculous new security setup and the near useless Air Train), I thought i'd ask the FT community what they think IAD really stands for. Here are a few of my picks:

Insufficient And Dirty

Inconvenient And Disappointing

I'm Against Dulles

I Advocate Demolition (well, the C/D concourse anyway)

Any other good ones?

It's Awful Depressing

Or if doing the C-D transition after they've run out...

Insufficient Amount of Donuts

Idiotic Airport Design

I Am Dulles... giving you the impression of it being the cockiest, most toolerific d-bag you have to deal with

Lately it means "I Arrive Delayed", or maybe more specifically, "International Arrival Delays" when having to clear customs after a long flight

Inside: A Dump

Incompetent 'Air-Lounge' Dragons ;)

Insufficient Air (by) Drivers (of the moon-buggies; they sure do squeeze them in!)

I Am Doomed

On recent trips, whenever I see IAD as part of the route it means

"I Am Doomed"

Not saying that Dulles itself will be the problem, just that any itineraty that includes Dulles seems to also come with a "complimentary exposure to the less enjoyable side of travel"

The acronym means nothing, but the airport means fear and loathing.

International Arrivals Disaster

slawecki Jun 4, 2010 12:38 pm

IAD ment the arrival of international arrivals & departures to me. all that was here was an overrun little hell hole called national airport. you think dulles is bad, you should have flown out of the old national before dulles. i can remember lines out the door for united, lines up the stairs and 3 hr waits for the eastern shuttle to nyc. it took 20 min to drive from the entrance of the airport to the terminals.

the arrival of dulles spawned the entire international business complex in the reston area.

you cute guys should go fly out of LHR a few times, then CDG. i also have not had a lot of fun at jfk.

Airport-drop much?

Many, many, many of us cute guys (I being the cutest) have flown out of LHR and CDG and JFK too many times to count. But that's irrelevant.

This thread is about IAD, not a comparison to DCA (and many of us remember that hellhole, but this isn't about that), or LHR (still a hellhole, even with T5), or CDG (yes, hellhole), or JFK (its own special hellhole) or spawning business in the Reston corridor. It's about IAD, which is a disgrace.
