DCA

Hi,
I have a flight leaving DCA on a Weds. at 6AM. How early do you think I need to arrive at the airport to get through security? Is it a 24 hour airport?

Thanks

It's not a 24-hour airport. If your flight leaves at 6am, then getting there at 5am, even 5.15am, will be plenty time enough.

There is a tendency on those 6 am flights to pack'em early, and leave the gate at 550 or so.

At that time its seems as if there are a lot of international passengers catching flights to the larger hubs. AA is often swamped pre-6am with passengers headed for Latin America via Miami.

Do check in on-line if you possibly can. AA and AC are both fairly chaotic in the early morning.

If I recall correctly, security opens at 4:30 a.m.

For me, a 6 a.m. flight pretty much takes away any advantage of flying out of DCA vs. IAD, since the metro can't get me there that early, but sometimes one has no choice.
