Driving Aguascalientes to San Cristobal

Any tips or things I should watch out for? I have driven in Mexico before, Monterrey, Zacatecas, Mexico City with no issues. Im thinking this will be a two to three day drivem Thinking over night in Cdmx and then go from there. It'll be myself and husband driving. I did have a check point from Monterrey to Zacatecas but that was super easy. The guards were very professional and nice. I know not all will be like that but Im prepared for both.

Yes go to the US state department website and look up all the towns that you'll be driving through driving on and around. There's active cartel in those areas fighting each other any given day in any point. You could be walking down the street and a gunfight happens right in front of you.

So, check the local news stations in those areas, especially in Chiapas. They are always having issues there, between the locals and the cartel. I've been there before and have no desire to go back.

I'm not sure when you plan to visit, but there's an alert out for several states to shelter in place.

Again, follow the advice by the State Department at that time. And be responsible for checking roadblocks etc before you drive anywhere. Something as simple as looking on Google maps will tell you there are roads blocked. You need to do your own vigilance too.
