The blockades continue. Another big one is scheduled for November 7th.
Also, there's nationwide protests and marches that will take place on November 15th, including in CDMX regarding the recent assassinations of a Mayor and several police officers. I'll post about that in a separate posting when I can find legitimate information. |
Nationwide Protests: November 15, 2025 - Against extortion, cartels etc.
This might be the largest protest in recent years in Mexico. Many things recently have happened that is fueling anger amongst the nationals, including an assassination of a local mayor.

Barricades are being erected in the Zocalo, for the upcoming March and Protest scheduled for November 25th. It's expected to be violent.
|
CNTE (teachers union) is back in the historical center for more demonstrations
CNTE is back.
Expect 15 November to be one of the worst days in history for CDMX. All the protesters from just about every major group will end up in the Zocalo on that day. I would definitely advise to stay far away. |
⚠️All States in Mexico will be demonstrating and Marching NOV 15th
Here's all the locations and times for the marches and demonstrations throughout Mexico, on November 15th (today).
Expect violence. |
The Zocalo right now
|
Protesters broke down the steel barricades to the national palace
Not good
|
Thanks for all these updates !! Yikes, quite a scary scene.
Oh my goodness, I just looked at the locations you posted above & see that even Mahahual (our favorite tiny little town in the middle of nowhere) is on there !! |

Planned Protest and Demonstration for 20 November @11:00 am CDMX
Another protest is scheduled for November 20th. I doubt it would be as large as the one on the 15th, but expect some violence in the city.
|
Reading about this Gen Z protest and not sure what to think about any of it either geopolitically or as a potential tourist.
I am inclined to stay home in spite of my desire to enjoy Mexico. I love you but maybe this is a bad time for guests... |

I am inclined to stay home in spite of my desire to enjoy Mexico. I love you but maybe this is a bad time for guests... Mexico City has over 3000 Demonstrations per year.😄 Mainly in those same areas. Actually, the demonstrations in September are the worst because they last weeks. Just don't go where they are demonstrating. It's not a demonstration against tourists or foreigners. It's against the government. Like the one's throughout the world including the UK and the USA. No difference. |

Do you know how big Mexico City is? All the protests and demonstrations happened between the Angel of Independence and the Zocalo. They just had a demonstration on 15 November.

Message from Gen Z Demonstrators - No Violence
Hopefully the agitators get the memo. |
Metro Bus Delays Interuptions expected during the demonstration

⚠️ Monday, November 24th will be a huge Blockade throughout the Country
On Monday, November 24th, Farmers and Transportation workers plan to shutdown the country, including all the roads, customs point of entry, industries, etc.
They are telling everyone to stay home and off the roads. This might be the largest blockade yet. If you have any tours or plan on traveling around the country on that day, you may consider postponing. |
Today's protest has been blocked by security forces keeping the attendees away from the Zocalo, at least so far. Their turnout was low compared to the 15th.
|
How far in advance are these things planned? Anything happening the first week of December?

There will definitely be more demonstrations/protests also. There's many everyday, of all group sizes. But the pro- government one will be the largest. I forgot the date. I'll come back and post it. It's on December 6th: |
December 6th, 9:00 am Angel of Independence Pro-Government March
Pro-Government March will take place on December 6th at 9:00 am, at the Angel of Independence. It's a community march and not lead by any government official.
|
Sunday, December 14th - Another scheduled Gen Z Anti Government march and protest
|
Zocalo is now fortified with large steel barricades
Since the last huge protest, CDMX has increased the strength of the barricades. Hopefully they aren't compromised like they were on November 15th. Several upcoming protests over the coming weeks.
|
Demonstration: November 25th - International Day to Eliminate Violence Against Women
They are putting the finishing touches on their steel barriers. Their marches always end with violence.
|
Retired Military March - Anti Government march 30 November @11am
Retired Military members of Mexico have a scheduled march and demonstration against the government starting at the Angel of Independence at 11:00am.
|
UPDATE: Pro-Mexican Government March and Rally - Sat 6 Dec 10:00 am
Official: The rally WILL be attended by all levels of the Mexican government, including the President. The entire historic center will be packed, so consider this information while planning your stay in CDMX.
|
The Pro-Government rally went on without any interuptions, and the number of attendees were huge.
|
This was about the only Anti-Government demonstration held. More comical than anything.
Edit: I think this group was actually protesting and mocking the "GenX" protestors. |

One question, why the barricades around the Palacio de Bellas Artes ? It seems far from the Zocalo. Is there a reason it might be targeted by protesters? Also interesting the National Art Museum does not have barricades, but the statue in front does. |

Also interesting the National Art Museum does not have barricades, but the statue in front does. Protesters always target the most important structures including the cathedral in the Zocalo. They tried to burn it down a few times. Glad to hear you made it to Mexico City! *Edit....that museum isn't on the top of protester's list because the government doesn't operate it. Protesters are after government operated supported property like statues etc. They wouldn't target Frida's blue house for instance. Most protests are anti-government. |
Information for the upcoming GenZ protest and demonstration. Expect violence.
