Event:



All restrictions related to the events of February 22 on U.S. government staff in Mexico have been lifted. The U.S. Embassy and all consulates in Mexico are operating normally.



While flight schedules have returned to normal, if your direct flight to the United States is cancelled, you might consider booking a connecting flight through another Mexican or U.S. city. We have no reports of road closures directed by local authorities.



U.S. citizens in Mexico should resume standard levels of precaution. See our travel advisory for Mexico on travel.state.gov for more information.



Actions to Take:
  • Check with your airline to confirm your flight status and schedule.
  • If you need to rebook your flight, do so before arriving at the airport or anticipate long lines and allow extra time.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Follow the directions of local authorities and in case of emergency, call 911.
  • Keep family and friends advised of your location and well-being via phone, text, and social media.

Protests and Demonstrations: March 7th US Embassy - March 8th Citywide Women's March
 
March 6, 2026
Event: On Saturday, March 7 at 11:00 am, there is a planned protest at the U.S. Embassy in Polanco against U.S. military action in Iran.On Sunday, March 8, there are disruptions expected throughout the city due to the International Women’s Day march. This will be from the Columbus roundabout on Paseo de la Reforma (aka – “Glorieta de las Mujeres que Luchan”) to the Zocalo. Other groups will gather at different points along Reforma, including the Mexican Revolution monument, the Diana roundabout, and the Angel of Independence, to join the main protest at 12:00 pm in the Zocalo.

Given previous activity by these groups, vandalism and/or violence is possible at both protests. Embassy personnel have been advised to avoid active protests and exercise caution with large gatherings or demonstrations.

Scheduled Protest US Embassy Polanco - March 26, 2026
 
Location: U.S. Embassy in Polanco

Event: The Anti-Imperialist and Anti-Fascist Mexican Front are planning a significant protest outside the U.S. Embassy in Polanco today at 11:00 am. Demonstrators may block roads and disrupt access to the building. Embassy personnel have been advised to avoid active protests.

  • Demonstrations can be unpredictable; avoid areas around protests and demonstrations.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Follow the directions of local authorities and in case of emergency, call 911.

Shooting at Teotihuacan Pyramids April 20, 2026
 
Location: Teotihuacan Pyramids, State of Mexico

Event: The U.S. Embassy is aware of a shooting that occurred earlier today at the Teotihuacan ⁠pyramids, a tourist site ​outside of Mexico City. Local authorities have confirmed the area has been secured and all injured victims are receiving medical care at local clinics and hospitals.
  
Actions to Take: 
- If you were in the vicinity of the shooting and unharmed, contact friends and family to let them know you are safe.
- If you require assistance, contact the U.S. Embassy at the details below.
- Follow the directions of local authorities and in case of emergency, call 911.
