Large earthquake in the State of Michoacán. Felt in Mexico City and San Miguel ( reported on a forum I follow). Tsunami warnings on the western coast of Mexico.

Sept 19, 1985 8.0 CDMX
Sept 19, 2017 7.1 Puebla
Sept 19, 2022, 7.6 Colima

That's a wild and sad coincidence. Hopefully, less inhabited area means less casualties.

I have Sky Alert on my phone and got the expected 19 Sep drill siren at 12:19 CT. It was definitely surprising to get another alert so soon afterwards. Thought it was drill part two.

The epicenter of the 1985 earthquake was off the coast of Michoacán not far from today's epicenter. The shock waves in 1985 penetrated the Jello like mud that CDMX is built on and resonated with mid-rise structures easily knocking them over. Low-rise and high-rises escaped major damage. A lot of construction lessons were learned.

The final number was 7.7 and it activated a Volcanic Ash fallout, which has since been dismissed. But over 200 aftershocks and earthquakes have been reported since. Under 5.5
