No problem whatsoever 3 days ago checking in with an electronic test from a Mexican lab. But, guess what, when everything was settled « one last thing » came up: the QR code!
Turns out it’s also needed for regional flights so you might need it if you have a MEX connection. The website did remember most of my info though, so the second time was relatively painless. In GDL, it was checked by security and those who didn’t have it were put aside - no exception. We ended up using the VeriFly app and it worked surprisingly well. We completed the CDC attestation form in the app and uploaded our negative covid results in PDF format. Everything was confirmed overnight and gave us the "green check mark" At the airport check in, we just showed the check in agent the green check mark in the app and that was it, she just printed our boarding passes. Literally nobody ever actually asked to see our covid results. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical of VeriFly, but it made the process a breeze (they actually had like four check-in desks dedicated to people who are using the VerifyFly app). With regards to the Mexico health questionnaire, we again completed it in the mobile app. The CUN airport had signs everywhere claiming this was required and must be done online, no more paper. There was a stunning number of people that didn't understand this and wait for it... they were given paper questionnaires to fill out. As we were walking to security there was a lady pretending to check that the questionnaire was complete, I tried to show her my green check mark on my phone, but she barely glanced at my phone and said, "Go, go, go!" She never looked at my wifes questionnaire... I love hygiene theater... Regards |

Well, went to the hassle of creating the online account and submitting the questionnaire, etc. and of course, upon arrival in CUN we simply went through customs and walked out the airport doors. Nobody asked to see the "required" health questionnaire.
Now I'm trying to figure out if we need an actual printed copy of our negative covid test results to check-in at the airport for return to US. Literally everything thing I've read says "hard copy paper or electronic" test results, but in Mexico one never knows what will be required on any given day and thus I could seen the check in agent demanding hard copy of test in triplicate or something. Anyone have experience/problems with just showing the electronic copy of the negative test on your phone to check in? Regards Int'l landing in MEX in February - same Int'l landing at AGU in April - same However, based on a series of domestic Mexico flights this year, checks of both the online health form and temperature were randomized. Nevertheless, that goofy vuelaseguro has to be filled out, and broken thermometers must proliferate. |
Registered on the website for the health questionnaire, as we leave Saturday. The following message appeared:

If you have e-sim capabilities on one your phones, I strongly suggest you get a local or International data plan ready (I recently discovered DENT and strongly recommend it, as it sells worldwide 4G data plans valid for 365 days). Wifi at MEX airport is random at best. |

At MEX T2 2 weeks ago, I can confirm no paper was provided and everyone had to get the QR code on their phone.

Wifi at MEX airport is random at best. Honestly, #2 that you quote above is completely confounding. I just ignored it. For our outbound flight, I completed mine on my phone while on the layover at DFW. On the return I completed it at the hotel prior to heading to the airport. Had no problems with that either way. So if I understand it - I have to get a QR code no more than 12 hours before arrival and departure for Mexico.
I'm off on Monday and the app doesn't seem to be in the UK App Store - so I'll probably have to pay for BA internet on Monday when I fly to MEX. |
You can register online here: https://www.vuelaseguro.com/login . Downloading an app is not needed.

Here's my experience at SJD last week. Seems quite a bit different than others had described.
We filled out the questionnaire online and got the QR codes the night before our flight. Upon arriving at SJD, we were told the phone codes weren't accepted, only paper, and we had to fill out forms. For our return flight, the hotel told us we needed to fill out the form and get a QR code. That surprised us since we were taking a nonstop flight to the US, and had our negative COVID tests, but we did it again while waiting for our ride to the airport. Upon getting to the airport, we saw people being turned away when showing their phones, so before getting in line we filled out paper forms at the airport again. Handed the guy our forms, which he didn't even look at, and moved on. It did seem like the person in line before us got through with the QR code, so maybe others were getting turned away based on the date or something else. |
Arrived at MEX on BA. Had both a paper form handed out by BA and the QR form.
Immigration form used as normal. No one asked about the Health Form or QR Form - still have these in my bag. |
Ive been to Mexico five times in the last year, never been asked for a QR code on arrival, just the regular customs form. On departure, you have to show a code indicating you paid the departure tax for tourists, but not sure if this is the same thing.

Fickle Indeed
Two weeks, I had to show the vuelaseguro when landing at Mérida.
Two days ago, no vuelaseguro at Monterrey...nor the customs form. |
Any updates on needing the VUELA-SEGURO health form (and when to fill it out)?
Heading to PV in a week. It seems unfathomable that there can be so much confusion over this document and that Mexico cannot make the requirements clear, LOL! Very frustrating!
I was in PV in June and filled out the health form (Vuela Seguro) within 12 hours of my departure. The people at PVR airport appeared to look at the QR code of some people and not of others (and asked others to fill out the form). As cited and quoted by posters above, the statement on the web site for this health form now say that passengers on international flights to Mexico need to fill out this form after arriving (which is insane due to wife or cell phone plan requirements). My plan is to fill out the form online at home 12 hours before my flight to Mexico and print out the paper/code (and NOT try to do at the airport without a phone plan or with sketchy wifi) Does anyone have recent experience (especially at PVR) with this form. Again, it is incredible that there is so little clarity around it! Thanks in advance. John H. |

it seems to me the requirements are clear - what is unclear is then "where or when" the requirements will be enforced....
so, to minimize any processing delays, I recommend completing the forms as early as you can (before departure) when you have wifi so that you will have them if requested and, if not requested, then you are not delayed at all. :) |
