CZM / Cozumel Airport Shuttle and Taxi Rates as of Aug 2017

Wanted to share some info about arriving and departing Cozumel / CZM. There is a good overview of the arrival process (know where you are going in advance and ignore the uniformed people outside customs who say "Welcome, where are you going?" because they want to give you a timeshare presentation) in this thread on ScubaBoard.

Departing the airport you must take a shared shuttle van (no taxis allowed, unless you want to walk out to the street), and Post 312 of this TripAdvisor thread has a link to a photo of the current rate board at the shuttle window (as of Jul 1, 2017). Shuttle zones are listed here, but DON'T buy your tix online as it's much more expensive than paying in pesos at the shuttle window. There are several ATMs down the hall to the LEFT as you exit customs where you can get pesos, then come back to the RIGHT to buy your shuttle tickets, ignoring the timeshare folks both times. Then head right out the door to the right to the white shuttle vans, which will be back to the left. A dispatcher with a clipboard will tell you which number van to take, and the driver will collect your tickets and ask where you are going, loading your luggage in the appropriate order for offload.

Returning to the airport and getting around town and to/from the hotels, you'll need to take a taxi (white car or van with TAXI in red letters). This site has screenshots of the current (as of Sep 1, 2016) Taxi Rate Cards.

Page 1: Downtown zone map and rates
Page 2: Rates for downtown to/from North and South hotel zones (Zona Hotelera) and other areas
Page 3: Rates for airport from hotel zones & between hotel zones
Page 4: List of hotels/resorts in each hotel zone

We always pay in pesos (you will generally get a much better exchange rate from the ATM than from any vendor if paying in USD), but the site above reports that the taxi fixed exchange rate has increased from 13 MXN/USD to 18 MXN/USD, which is actually better than the current exchange rate of 17.8 MXN/USD (Aug 2017).

That's very useful! Thanks!

I'll load the rate card images (though the fourth one is pretty unsharp).

(As of August 2019, these rate cards are still displayed on the originating website. Card #5 is the rate card IN US DOLLARS from the “Puerto Maya” cruise port as of May 2018.)

Just checking for 2019 update? Shuttle vans and ATM still located in the same area? Current rates? Thanks!
