Amex Bluebird in Cabo San Lucas

Hi All,
I'm about to head to Cabo San Lucas and I'm trying to find the best way to withdraw cash while I'm there without having to pay ATM fees.

I have an Amex Bluebird account and I'm wondering if I will be able to use it at ATMs there. I know Amex does not charge Foreign Transaction fees with the Bluebird Card, but I'm not sure what kind of ATM fees I may be looking at there. Bluebird claims they do not charge fees for withdrawals at Moneypass ATMs. I have not been able to find out if Moneypass ATMs exist in Cabo San Lucas, or if any ATMs even accept Bluebird Cards.

Does anyone have any experience withdrawing cash using a Bluebird card in Cabo? What kind of fees did you end up paying?

Thanks!

Have you looked into the Schwab fee free checking account? I'm assuming you're US based. Schwab does not charge a monthly fee, have a minimum amount requirement, doesn't charge you to use ATMs and refunds all ATM charges made to the account.
I have used it internationally several times without a problem. And when my card got cloned the service was really great.
I have the Serve card from Amex but will not use it for withdrawals. I refuse to pay fees. Serve is Monthly fee free here in NY.

I can't recall too many ATMs accepting AMEX out of the main cities, but perhaps a call to AMEX would be useful? Maybe the app for your smartphone?

OTOH, I can not find the web page will even accept "Mexico" or "Cabo San Lucas" as an option.

You may be out of luck for an ATM with your card.

Amex Bluebird in Cabo San Lucas

Not sure about the Bluebird card, but my friend used her Amex Prepaid Debit card at a Cancun area HSBC ATM without any problem. There were no amex markings on the machine.

This amex site says all HSBC and Scotiabanks are valid.

try this link...
http://network.americanexpress.com/e...80890599994600

or google "american express atm" mexico

according to the site, amex cards are useful where you see the logos for:
PLUS
STAR
USBANK
FIFTH THIRD BANK
HSBC
NYCE

and a search for cabo indicates all HSBC and SCOTIABANK ATMs are good to go.

using your bluebird with limited funds in it would be a great way to limit contingent liability, in case your card gets skimmed.
