Cancun or Cabo
Trying to decide which part of mexico we should vacation to next May. Let me know what you liked or dislike about each. Any info will be appreciated. Will prob stay at the Westin in Cancun and will exchange through II for Cabo.
Which area in Cabo is the best part. Thanks |
YMMV but this is how I rate the two options.
Cancun great blue water and snorkeling ^ close to Mayan ruins (takes a car or tour) ^ can take the bus along the hotel zone ^ lot's of bars, loud music and young kids :td: Cabo great deep sea fishing ^ two small towns available for shopping & eating ^^ need a car to get anywhere :td: my favorite is Puerto Vallarta. the resorts in Cabo are spread out along the coast between the 2 towns which is why you need a car. The Westin in Cancun is just about at the end of the hotel zone so there isn't much you can walk to. hope this is helpful. |
basically anywhere in mexico with a shoreline is a world class fishing spot. If you are more of a desert person that go with Cabo. Cabo is also closer to the western U.S and is cheaper for those residents to fly.
Cancun is much more beautiful and tropical than Cabo and has better beaches. |
While both are fun destinations, Cancun is the winner hands down.
Cabo is like being in PHX with a beach. Along with the whole Baja peninsula, Cabo is essentially a desert. The beaches are nice, but nowhere near as good as Cancun. If you're not into fishing, there isn't much to do. There are plenty of bars and some shopping, but little else. With its turquoise beaches and rain forests, Cancun has way more in terms of natural beauty, activities, tours, and hotels. Playa del Carmen, which lies just south of CUN offers a more laid back and calmer environment than CUN. In addition to the tours of Chichen Itza and Tulum, there is the underground river at Xcaret as well as Cozumel, and Isla Mujeres. |
