Wow. I'm impressed:
www.labottega.com
This is the same amenities brand used by the Fasano hotels in Brazil. ^
Miles better than the green leaf. Yawn.
Edited to add: William, the fact that you found this out and posted it, also impresses me.

I received this email this morning from SPG
Dear beachfan,
"We are writing to inform you of an update in the status of The Park Central San Francisco, formerly The Westin San Francisco Market Street. While the property will no longer be a Westin hotel, we have agreed to continue to allow the hotel to remain on certain Starwood systems, including SPG, on a temporary basis following the closing of the sale.
We are very pleased that the hotel will continue to participate fully in the SPG program but we realize that this news may be upsetting to our valued members who cancelled reservations or those who we assisted in moving reservations to other Starwood hotels in the San Francisco area. Upon learning that the hotel was leaving the chain as of January 23rd, it was important that we inform all our guests, and work with members most affected by the change. We regret any disappointment this news may cause and hope we can count on your understanding.
For our members who will be staying at the hotel, we are pleased to advise that all SPG benefits will be honored. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact either the hotel team at 415-974-6400 or the Starwood Customer Service team at [email protected].
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to being of service in the future."
I'm thinking I still might be better off in the Towers at the St. Francis for a comparable rate. I see some stated they preferred the St. Francis. The Westin is a hair better located for me (because of BART) but not so far as too make a difference.
Any other thoughts on my choice options?

Everything says they are for now. Not sure if that will change quickly, but anything could happen. SPG.com is still taking reservations and the website shows many references to having Westin amenities.

Stayed last week and the toiletries was changed to CO Bigelow. Funny to see they scraped off the SPG floor form the signage only to put a temporary SPG back on.

Very interesting. Is that a one-off for this unbranded hotel or something we can look forward to at other Starwood properties?

Strangely the hotel still shows up on the Westin directory page, with the name "The Park Central San Francisco":
http://www.starwoodhotels.com/westin...language=en_US
And it still has a Westin-branded page:

Here for the first time after the hotel was rebranded. Other than the signage and toiletries, nothing has changed. If you choose breakfast as your platinum amenity, you can still buy up to a full buffet for $5. Food quality and selection are the same as before. Pastries weren't as good though.

Just stayed in this property for the first time last weekend and it would be a shame to see it go from Starwood. Received an exceptionally good upgrade as a Gold member to a Premier Corner Room on the top floor (could have been because it was my anniversary; concierge knew that but I don't know if they told the front desk, and front desk agent didn't mention it). Agent also gave a few other room options and mentioned up front that the room was small, which it was by most U.S. city standards, but it was still perfectly nice and I would consider it big by Manhattan standards for example.
C.O. Bigelow toiletries were nice and a definite upgrade from the standard Westin stuff, IMO.
Rest of the property is in good shape and notably the fitness center was one of the better ones I've seen at a Westin city property in the U.S., with lots of cardio machines and a good range of weight equipment.
The only thing I thought odd about this property was that there was no pen and pad of paper anywhere in the room. Very minor thing, but it struck me as odd since I consider that a pretty standard offering in basically all hotels of this category.

Probably had to trash all the Westin pads and pens and can't decide what to put on the new ones.
