Marriott and Sekisui to build up to 50 rural hotels in Japan

This is quite significant and sounds similar to what Hilton did with Huazhu Group in China with the Hampton brand. I wonder what brand Marriott will use? I would have guessed Courtyard but given the brand's higher standards in Asia (often having a lounge, etc.) maybe they will use Fairfield. Or will there be a new brand?

Interesting.

This is where having a bunch of select-service brands, each with a different focus, gives Marriott and the developer the opportunity to choose the most appropriate brand (or brands) Fairfield, MOXY, Four Points, Aloft, AC Hotels, or Courtyard (or even Element, Residence Inn, or TownePlace Suites for extended-stay hotels).
