Customer Appreciation Week
Walked into the Marriott Copenhagen this evening and they were serving champagne (yes, real Champagne) with a big sign saying this week is Marriott Customer Appreciation Week. Nice touch ... anything happening anywhere else? Will be interesting to see what they have tomorrow

Both yesterday and this morning (at the same property) I weathered a full-on attack via battering ram by Courtyard housekeeping staff. Like bees and bulls seeing the color red, there’s apparently nothing more offensive to CY HK folk than the sight of a DND sign!
Perhaps they were uber-eager that I should receive my share of the breakfast bubbly flowing down in the lobby?

Isn't Starriott customer appreciation an oxymoron these days? First we had rabies, then we're lunatics, and no one answers our phone calls or emails. I'm not sure which is worse, but it doesn't feel like we're appreciated at all, with or without a special champagne offering for those lucky enough to be in the right hotel lobby at the right time today.
OTOH, if a Starriott property ever wants to send a bottle of complementary champagne to my room, preferably the real French stuff, I won't object. Hyatt has done it a couple times for this Diamond turned Glob, but I can't recall Starriott/Starwood/Marriott ever doing this for me (as opposed to nice bottles of still wine sent to my room or some free drinks in the lobby/bar), and I must mention here with great appreciation that I have received some nice surprise gifts from Starwood (tote bag, chocolates, and bathrobe for example) and most (but not all) of the "it's the thought that counts" annual PP gifts from Marriott.

Shouldn't EVERY week be Customer Appreciation week? Perhaps focus that time and budget into on-going 'surprise and delight' moments or dare I say website/IT resources?

The Renaissance St Louis Airport participated somewhat last Tuesday with a small reception in one of the areas in the lobby. Unfortunately, I was in my room all day and headed to the airport by the time I learned about it. Guessing they were telling people at check-in.

The hotel I stayed at on that Tuesday (Fairfield Inn & Suites) in Milwaukee had free pizza and alcohol. I desperately needed it, so I'm not sure why there was pizza and beer... but it was good.
Nothing for my Ottawa stay on Thursday, though. I barely get Plat recognition there anyway, so I don't expect much.

Ha! Missed it all last week - 2 night stay at a Hilton, 1 night at a Hyatt Recency where I was upgraded to a suite with a 180 degree view, single nights at a TPS and a FI (but no member appreciation) and then 1 night stays at a Westin and an AC (and again no appreciation).
Must be the Danes.
