I think it’s hilarious how people are trying to find a pattern in a random draw.

For better or for worse our brains are evolutionarily wired to try to extract patterns from random noise, and at least a few cities are built on exploiting that

The only pattern I've been able to extract is that this "sweepstakes" sucks. I've received the equivalent of 500 *points.

None that I've been able to determine. I always fail some, then my wife gets a perfect score and we still have only gotten 100 each so far.

Yes... my level of confidence in Marriott IT has dropped so far as to wonder whether the points will arrive in the amounts promised.

I will say though that, since they are likely using a computer to choose the 'random' prizes, if they were as careful with their random number generator as they are with the rest of their IT, it's quite possibly not as random as it seems.

If you ask a computer scientist, there's no such thing as a true random number generator, although some are pretty close.

Were most of your "same" results either 50 points or a sweepstakes entry? Those seem to be the two most common so if so I don't see anything unusual about your pattern - it seems the times one of you actually won something more than 50 points, the other didn't.

However I believe a couple people have mentioned both they and their spouse winning more than 50 on the same day which is kinda interesting.
