I have this as well. $4K for 10K points, and another 5K points for an additional $2K (so $6K total spend).

By October 31.

Isn't this like 5K total legacy SPG points? (15 / 3). No thanks.

Not Just For The Legacy Cards

I received the same offer as OP (30,000 points) and I received this offer two weeks after upgrading to the SPG Amex Luxury card.

Your right, but the way I think about it is I am getting 4 points for general spend, which is better than I was getting with my previous SPG card. Sure, the card will be back in the sock drawer as soon as it is over, but I still like the properties and the transfer possibilities with Marriott points.

I use that card for all my non-Canada spending. (We really don't have no forex fee cards in Canada.) If I could hit $4K organically, I would go for it. But doesn't look like it will happen. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

Anyone think this a carrot from Amex for legacy SPG members to retain spending, but not "officially" increase non-bonus spend to 3 points/$, which Marriott would have to reciprocate with their legacy Visa Card?

I will continue using the Luxury Amex as long as this remains on the table...

A lower-spend offer on my wife's SPG:

6,000 bonus points after spending $2,000 in eligible purchases and an additional 4,000 bonus points after spending an additional $1,000 in eligible purchases on your registered Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card between the time you complete registration and October 31, 2018

We had both switched all but a couple of auto-bills to CSR 8/1.

Which 30K points are they? 30K SPG or 30K Marriott?

SPG starpoints no longer exist. So everything is in new Marriott points (worth 1/3 of the old Starpoints). A 100,000 bonus offer would be equivalent to 33,333 old Starpoints.

Thank you. However, I'm still confused. Not all SPG members have combined their accounts, so don't they still have Starpoints? (I did combine them, successfully, so can't check my own account for the answer.)

No, on August 18 Starpoints were multiplied by 3 and became "points". Starpoints do not exist anymore

Thanks, that makes sense.

Next question: When do these post? On hitting the spend, or when the bill cycle hits monthly?

Not sure if I'll take it. Assume this is an attempt to bridge the gap until the annual free night comes available next year.

Called Amex the other day after reaching the required spend for my get 20,000 points for 10K in spend promotion. My 100,000 point Luxury card upgrade offer posted immediately after spending $5K, but not the 20,000 point offer They confirmed I reach the required spend but told me I should see the 20K bonus next month.

I was also informed that I was enrolled in a third bonus, spend 15K and receive 15K point bonus and I was only $500 away from getting that one. I never enrolled for it. She also confirmed that there were "hundreds" of different offers out there....
