PATHWAYS TO LIFETIME PLATINUM PREMIER ELITE STATUS:

1. Legacy Marriott Lifetime Platinum - 750 [MR+SPG] nights & 2MM Marriott Rewards points earned - not available after 1/1/2019
2. New Combined Program - 750 [MR+SPG] nights & 10 years combined/total as Platinum members previously under MR and/or SPG as of 12/31/2018 - not available after 1/1/2019

From members.marriott.com:

NOTE: Members that reach 750 nights and 10 years at Platinum by December 31, 2018 will be grandfathered into Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite status (notified January 2019).

FAQ from members.marriott.com

Q: CAN I EARN LIFETIME STATUS UNDER THE LEGACY REQUIREMENTS (ACTIVE PRIOR TO AUGUST 2018) FOR LIFETIME ELITE STATUS IN MARRIOTT REWARDS, RITZ-CARLTON REWARDS OR SPG? IF SO, WHEN WILL I BE NOTIFIED OF MY LIFETIME ELITE STATUS?

A: Yes, in addition to earning based on the new criteria, members can earn Lifetime Elite Status under the legacy requirements through the end of 2018. If Lifetime status is achieved by legacy requirements, between August and December 31, 2018 you will receive notice of your updated Lifetime Elite status in January 2019. If Lifetime status is achieved based on the new criteria, you will be notified both in August 2018 as well as any time it is achieved through the end of the year.

Example: An SPG member has 300 Lifetime nights, 4 years of Gold Elite Status, and 1 year of Platinum Elite Status after August, 2018. Under the SPG legacy Lifetime requirements, this member would earn Lifetime Gold Elite status which would reflect in their account January 2019.

Q: IF I WILL NOT BE GRANDFATHERED INTO LIFETIME PLATINUM PREMIER ELITE, WILL I HAVE THE ABILITY TO EARN INTO THIS LEVEL IN 2018?

A: Yes, members can earn Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite in 2018 if they achieve 750 Lifetime nights and 10 years at Platinum Elite status. This requirement is only for 2018 and will not be continued in future years. Members will receive notice of this Lifetime achievement in January 2019.

And yes, my understanding based on what I've seen here on FT is that the already-SPGLPT750's were supposed to be immediately grandfathered, IIRC.
The LT nights and total years Plat look correct post-combined, at least up to Sat., a.m. 8/18. However, missing are the specifics of any past SPG stays this year, including one I had this past Sat. night. When it's working, the App and sometimes the website, show me as LT Plat; but not Plat Prem.

Still having problems with the new website reflecting recent stays in late July and August. While this does not make a material difference for Lifetime status, its frustrating that these most recent stays appear to be lost. Also, no luck combining accounts.

Hi ocn2ocn,

You may not see some of your recent stays in your account. Not to worry, they will be posted soon.

The ability to combine accounts will be made available to members on a rolling basis. If you don’t see the option to combine yet, check back later.

We thank you for your continuous support and patience given to us during this period of time.

so at least in my case, to add a data point, that is not the case at this time - only LTP and not LTPP although my SPG activity alone should have been sufficient

Hi

I see the option to combine under profile but does not work. I was told we should wait to combine until we receive an e-mail? Is this correct?

Thanks

I just tried method 1 as the first time I've seen my lifetime years of elite status counts and the numbers seem very wrong.

Are these counts supposed to reflect elite status years totals from both SPG and MR or only one side?

My accounts are linked but not combined.

This was never the case - it was made pretty clear only those people who were LTP via the Marriott method alone would get it in August - everyone else would be Jan

Will Marriott be combining SPG and MR lifetime totals in the merged accts? I'll be a few hundred shy of the 700 MR requires for Lifetime if they do, if not I'm nowhere close, I'm sure this info is here somewhere but I dont see it.

Yes, that was/is the intention... execution is another thing.

And it's 750, not 700... (are you referring to LTPP because that's what this thread is about)

If you haven't merged, then I think these show the numbers from only one side. I'm not merged, and I see different numbers depending which account I am logged into.

Although primarily a long-term SPG loyalist, I decided to combine through the MR side as I found my MR # easier to recall than the 9-digit new SPG #.

This past Monday, I had a window to combine and it took. Almost instantly my SPG points were x3 and already added to 300K of MR points with a grand total showing (seemingly correct exc. for a 8/18 SPG stay not yet visible).

Within 24-hours, I was seeing my correct LT total nights and years on the MR App; and, when it's viewable, the MR website. (I've found that the MR App is more stable and persistent for viewing than the website, where what's available comes and goes). I can see future res.for both SPG and MC hotels. Just yesterday, I began to see SPG past stay point accruals as late as May.
What's still missing or hit-and-miss: Detail on SPG stays from May - August 18, 2018. Also my LT Plat. status -- and, relevant to this thread, am only LT Plat, not PPrem.

Attempts to go back to my account side of the SPG website or app to see any part of my past accruals fail as I get a message similar to "that account has already been combined with another."

I really can't believe they are treating loyal customers this way. This is just bad customer service and bad IT. I have 1522 lifetime nights and somewhere about 15 years (maybe more) Platinum between Marriott and Starwood. Pretty much all of my stays for the rest of the year will be Hilton. If this isn't fixed by the end of the year, I probably can't boycott Marriott the way I am boycotting United, but Hilton and someone else (IHG?) will get the vast majority of my business.

Yikes. Now when I log in to my MR account (linked but not merged) I initially just see Plat, but when I click further it shows as PPwithAmb and the infinity symbol. I wasn't able to get into either account all day to watch the progress. The annual nights, points available, etc. look OK but I haven't checked carefully (and plan to avoid doing so until the mess settles down). It also shows me as LTPP and says that I've earned the 50 and 75 night choice benefits (even though I hit 50/75 MR nights before August), but I need to come back later to select them.

However, I can't find any Ambassador Team contact number or even an indication of what elite phone numbers I should be using. I'm not expecting contact right away from *my* Ambassador and, in fact, I have Hyatt stays planned for the near future.

Need some help

I am currently only lifetime gold SPG with 590 nights and 8 years of platinum. My Marriott is 77 nights and 2 years of platinum but it’s based on matching/promotion.

What would it take to get lifetime platinum ?

Wouldn't the new program requirement of 600 nights and ten years of Plat/50 night status apply? I don't think you can quality for legacy LTP.
