IRAPH SUI, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Miyakojima, Okinawa, Japan [Master Thread]

Opening next year but no timeframe given.
We are planning a trip to Okinawa but will land in Naha. The hotel is apparently located on another island which is far from Naha. The direct flight from Naha will take you to Miyakojima in 55 minutes. Is it worthwhile to go there for a trip to Okinawa unless the resort is really good?

This is exciting. I've been to Ishigaki many times where I really enjoy the Intercontinental, but I've always wanted to visit the other islands, and Miyakojima is one of them. I just hope it won't be insanely priced ... which I fear it might be, especially considering the recent devaluation of the Japan portfolio (everything moved up at least one category, even properties that absolutely didn't deserve, it like the Kiroro properties).

Bummed it wont open until 2018 (or perhaps more likely 2019) since we already are booked for May 2018 in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka...and would have loved to include this place for some beach and diving!
But it will be an excellent reason to return to Japan in the not too distant future, indeed.

No category yet. Website says opening November '18.
Hotel website:

"IRAPH SUI, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Miyako Okinawa will open on Irabu Island, which lies 300 kilometers southwest of Okinawa’s main Island. The island is blessed with beautiful nearby coral reefs, primeval forests and a rich historic culture. IRAPH SUI faces the clear beautiful sea and provides plenty of space to relax and rejuvenate. In addition to 58 guest rooms, some with private pools, there are luxury facilities such as a gourmet restaurant with modern interior and panoramic views, an infinity swimming pool that seems to melt into the sea and sky, a relaxing spa, beach club and more."

Shows up with points but isn't bookable. An SPG agent suggested "I go somewhere else" or "I book a cash reservation". I tried to politely explain that neither $1,000 per night is an option, nor is going somewhere else because of their broken system is an option. How does that even make any sense?!? "I'm sorry, Maldives isn't working, but would you like the Courtyard JNB Airport? That's working!!!!!!"
FFS, seriously, Marriott.

Oh wow gonna watch this property. Miyakojima is an amazing island and was missing spg properties. Stayed two years ago for a week at the Tokyu resort on the main Miyakojima island. That location is far superior to this on however. This is a bit remote but guess the hotel aim for high luxury who wish to stay in hotel the whole time.
Wonder what the rate will be.
