Per UnluckySven: If coming from Hong Kong Island, would suggest taking the ferry to the Taipa Ferry Terminal and then catching the free shuttle to the JW (third stop). It's a little faster and it seemed to be less crowded then the Macau Ferry Terminal (arrived at Macau; left out of Taipa). Prices are consistent between the two ferry operators (if going first class to/from Taipa make sure you have a Mastercard as you get 20% off first class tickets).

Plats get 30% off at restaurants.

I have a follow up question. One week from Monday, I fly from TPE to HKG on China Air. I wanted to make my way straight to the board for my stay in Macau.

However, a friend in HKG has asked to come to the HKG airport to see me before I catch the boat for Macau. Is there a public area where he can find me or is the path secure straight from arrival to Macau boat when not having checked luggage?

Am I reading this page correctly to say that the SkyPier is restricted access so my most direct route is from arrival gate T2 to SkyPier?

That is correct. You never enter Hong Kong. I recognize it means not seeing your friend, but for me, I really like this very efficient process of going onward to Macau.

Okay, but on the return I would have to go to the Korean Airlines ticket counter so I could try and find him in the public space the next morning since I must take the first boat out of Macau that day. Do I have that right?

I assume that the ticket counter is at HKG and not the airport in Macau. That means you must enter Hong Kong in order to go to the ticket counter. So yes, that's an opportunity to see him.

Sorry but this page above and the ticket I just purchased makes me think that I will check-in in Macau for KoreanAir which must mean arriving very early from the Marriott to Taipa departure. Notice the reference to a UCI at Macau which might be "unsuccessful".

My ticket says they take me back to SkyPier which reinforces the notion that I remain in a secure area until departure especially since I have no luggage to check in. The ticket like this page also stipulates showing up 185 minutes before departure include transportation time from Macau.

Edited to say that I keep trying to login into my Cotai account but it always says the session has timed out. I sent a message to CS but given the time difference do not expect a reply before tomorrow.

I just got the following from an email responding to a query I sent to Cotai Water Jet CS:

UPSTREAM CHECK-IN SERVICES (UCI)

"The boarding of participating airlines will be issued to passenger after check-in. Passengers do not need to go through any check-in procedures upon arriving SkyPier or go through immigration formalities at Hong Kong International Airport. Baggage will be tagged and delivered to the designated flight.

"However, Korea Air is not participation in the UCI service, therefore UCI service may not applicable to your schedule.

So it kind of sounds like I am out of luck getting UCI services to streamline the process since KE does not participate? But would not a KE EBP - or one printed from the Macau Marriott - allow me to bypass the KE counter and go straight to regular security?

I am currently in the JW Marriott Macau. All the info given upthread is confirmed.

I used the Exec Club check-in and was upgraded to the most glamorous suite Marriott has ever given me. The same shown in photos in post #6 .

One note of caution for others is that I am on the 7:15 am ferry to HKG in the morning. When I checked in, I was told there was no shuttle service at 6:30 am and none of the taxis take credit cards. I ended up waiting one hour in a bank in the adjacent mall getting enough local currency for a taxi.

Use HKD cash, exchange foreign currencies for MOP/HKD at the hotel or casino forex desk, or withdraw cash at the ATM?

The Executive Club agent walked me to the bank (in the mall) after I asked how to convert either Euros or USD to get enough MOP for the early taxi. I am currently allergic to ATMs but have used them in the past. She mentioned a casino but thought it not the best option today. Today I had only two large HKD on me.

The club reception and front desk would be able to break 1000HKD into smaller denominations easily. Foreigners, me included generally use HKD around Macau even though MOP is officially ~3% cheaper in value.

A cab ride from JW to Taipa ferry should cost you 50HKD, save yourself the trouble and just use HKD next time

I thought the Executive Club agent insisted that I use MOP and that I should have 100 MOP in hand, but in any event lesson learned.

Leaving this morning was not smooth as silk. I checked out at Executive Club at 6 am then went to ground floor and could not find anyone at the Concierce desk. There was only one person behind a regular desk and they tried to locate some help. Eventually a guy showed up and there were no taxis waiting outside nor could he get anyone to answer their phone. This went on for about 15 minutes if not longer.

Is this hotel known for being stingy with award nights? I see single award nights available the next three weekends, and then nothing for the rest of 2019.
