As per https://www.starwoodhotels.com/tribu...language=en_US :

The SLS Las Vegas, a Tribute Portfolio Resort will be leaving Marriott on August 17, 2018. Reservations for dates on or after August 17, 2018, will not be eligible for Starwood Preferred Guest membership benefits, award redemption or accrual.

SLS Las Vegas joined SPG in December 2015, having previously being a Hilton Curio (see this thread in the FT Hilton forum.)

Pre-opening discussion is here.

The 289-room LUX Tower, one of the three towers onsite, will undergo a conversion and renovation and reopen as W Las Vegas in September 2016. The W will have its own dedicated entrance, lobby, meeting space, pool and facilities and will be managed by Starwood while the remainder of the SLS will remain under its current management. Discussion here.

Shuttle from the LAS Airport stops at 8PM, and is not free for guests to take as of April 1st, 2016. Call property for updates and more info as they don't have it posted on their website.

I was always willing to pay to stay at the SPG properties especially the Westin even when I had super cheap or comped rates at some of the Caesars properties( I actually liked that place and always stayed on a BRG ) - Westin has changed a lot over the last year and a half....I guess it is no more chasing points/status or whatever it was that I was doing. Just the September week alone I saved probably $500.00 by not chasing the status etc.,

I never looked at it closely over the years because it didn't matter...........I can't imagine the cost savings when I just want to find the best hotel at the best price based on what I am looking for. I feel like I just broke up from a real long relationship!
Renaissance has been an easy LNF for me. Hotel experience is similar to the Westin, a nicely-appointed, clean hotel that's maybe a little bland. They didn't waive the destination fee (as Plat) for me on my recent stay. It's nice to have a lounge.

That said, it will be hard to beat the ~$33+resort fee weekday BRG rates at SLS. I'd earn at least 2600 Starpoints, sometimes becoming a +EV hotel stay when there was a good SPG bonus going on.

I have the same problem and was also due to arrive on the 1st.

What have you found elsewhere?

What is an LNF?

I have stayed at the Renaissance a couple of times in the last few months. Modern. Comfortable. Quiet. It was fine.

My W Las Vegas stay got changed to an SLS and then I get the email saying the SLS is leaving SPG.

So what happened to the W?

Was going to check in on my birthday as a treat for myself, so looks like that plan is now ruined.

My guess is that the W is being rebranded as part of the SLS, which is leaving Starwood/Marriott, the net effect of which will be the W and the SLS will no longer be part of Starwood/Marriott.

Well I don't travel for work anymore so I just want to reach my 50 nights. I need at least 3 nights on this September trip with SPG/MAR to keep in line with my 50. So I tried 4 LNF's for the Renaissance and they all got denied. I can honestly say I have never really used the MAR website and find it horrible! I filter the hotels by price and they are all over the place in comparison to the SPG site?? I literally have to open each one up and figure out what the total cost actually is........I don't know, unless it just me? ..... but I can't stand it. Literally.

I ended up just booking the Renaissance for 3 nights........give it a shot. Then just going to Bally's for the last 3 and use comps anyway there. Over the years I always know exactly when my Vegas trips are so I have BRG's almost every stay at the Westin......this time around I just could not find a rate. I booked the Renaissance on a pre-paid rate and it is still probably 75% of what I would usually pay at the Westin for 6 nights on a BRG - especially when they used to remove the resort fee. Booking the Westin right now for my dates on the cheapest pre-paid rate would be running around $1400-$1500 CDN. No thanks!

What a sad, sad day Saturday will be.

I believe the Monorail is right beside the Renaissance so that will be fine. What are there Plat benefits there - any upgrades to suites or Club Rooms? What about breakfast - in the lounge or restaurant? ....anything else.

Is there any convenience stores walking distance from the Renaissance?

+1 100%...couldn't beat the BRG's here and I actually didn't mind the hotel and vibe......other than the little inconvenience of using the Mono Rail. I thought I found my new Vegas home leaving the Westin......that was short lived!

Somehow I think I am very lucky for my incoming trip!

First, I'm considering to book a stay at St Regis Dubai for next week but end up change to mix between Al Maha and Westin Mina Seyahi.
(St Regis Dubai leaving SPG earlier this month)

Second, Did considering SLS Las vegas for the Las Vegas leg of my trip sometimes end of this month ..... but luckily I book The Cosmopolitan instead

I cancelled my 3 night stay in Oct. @ the SLS after learning that SLS is leaving SPG. When I made the booking back in Feb, SLS automatically charged me ~$190 x3 on my CC for room deposit. Over 2 weeks went by and the refund is still not issued to my card. I had to call the hotel FD to request them to manually return credit. Just a heads up for anyone that is cancelling their SLS reservation -- best to check statement and make sure the credit is returned.

Coda: SLS to Sahara

(I acknowledge that this property is no longer part of the McMarriott chain)
