Just came back after spending a few nights in Windsor. The staff makes efforts to converse, which is good after a long work day. But when two of them ask the same questions..

Rooms are getting a bit dated. But the evening club hours and some restaurant food was good.

The rates are now almost 40-60% of what they were last year and they claimed occupancy is over 50%.

The property offers upgrades from the regular to the tower rooms.

Stayed here for one night on an award stay (12k pts ouch!) in mid-May 2009.

Staff was very friendly. Pick up by the hotel from the airport cost around Rs2100.
No free wifi/internet anywhere.
Breakfast buffet was pricey -- around Rs1500 I believe on a weekday.
Lunch for two ran close to Rs3000, non-veg, no alcohol.

Pool was nice, as was the whirlpool. The dining area where the breakfast buffet is served overlooks the pool -- just an fyi for any of you shy folks since there will be quite a few gawkers while eating their breakfasts.

Staff was over-the-top friendly, to the point of annoying. I stayed at the Bangkok Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit the night before and they are also over-the-top friendly, but the staff at the SGS don't really go down the road of trying to have an actual conversation so it is a bit more sublime than at the Windsor.

As far as the location is concerned, I didn't really get a chance to walk out of the compound but it does not seem like there is much within quick walking distance.

One annoying point -- I took a taxi from the hotel to be dropped off about 15km away and the taxi driver charged me for the tip/distance to get back to the hotel. I've never experienced that before, I tried to argue about it but I gave up. Call down to the coincerge an hour in advance if you need a lower cost, metered taxi.

Use metered taxi (radio cabs) which are equally comfortable and cost a third of this amount.

Agreed. The hotel does not give free internet, though the speed is good compared to some other hotels in this city.

Must be for two. I remember it was close to 700 or so. But the spread is good and there's lots of good stuff.

You need to catch a rickshaw or a taxi. The nearest place is 3-4 km off.

Agree. Metered taxi is the way to go.. !

Did you try the Kaya Kalp Spa? I liked it, even though its not the best this chain has.

What were the Plat benefits? Did you get a suite upgrade?

Any recent updates on the Windsor? It's been a few years since I stayed there?

The last 3-4 times I have been in Bangalore, I have been at the Leela, but wanted to try the Windsor out again and build by SPG credits up....will I be dissapointed?

Smile TR - ITC Windsor August 19th/23rd

Airport Pick-up
I mentioned to the ITC Windsor representative stationed at the airport that I had arrived even though I had made arrangement for a private car. The gentleman was expecting me and had taken some time to look for my driver. I was not expecting any help as I was not using a hotel car but the airport representative walked me to my driver (he had noticed my name from his listing of arrival). This was a very surprising and good start to the stay.

Check-in
Arrived at the hotel at about 2230. There is security in place and my name was taken as the suitcase was being scanned at the entrance of the car park. It made its way to the reception while I proceeded to the check-in desk. As the door was pushed open for me, there was a charming lady who introduced herself and directed me to my room for the check-in. As a platinum, I had been upgraded to a beautiful Lord Wellesley Suite. Passport was taken for a scan and check-in formality completed in no time.

Room
Beautiful room with quaint decoration, this could be in an old hotel with character. The dining room was set with a complete set of china and a huge bowl of fruits. As I had friends staying nearby, we made use of the room and enjoyed the dining room. Massage chair was clashing a bit in terms of decor but it provided for great distraction after heavy meals. The bed was greatly comfortable and I slept like a baby. Breakfast in the veranda was included (I believe thrown in as a platinum). Internet was free as per SPG Perks. One thing to note is that when logging in, the hotel provides you with the choice of 4 internet packages depending on speed and usage. I believe this makes things a bit complicated. From an SPG standpoint, I was not sure if I was going to be charged for choosing the most expensive and fastest plan. I chose third in term of speed and the charge was removed at check-out.
Butler came to introduce himself and provided me at my request with some Massala Tea. Tea and coffee are free at wake up and warm drinks in the evening before bed but an order of tea middle of the day will raise a charge.

Spa
Had a wonderful time in the spa which looks very contemporary and design (think the newer Westin). Opted for a Shirodhara treatment and Thomas my masseur was very professional, friendly and attentive. He had worked in an hospital in Kerala for 15 years and had moved to the ITC Windsor 1 year ago.

Breakfast
Any trip to India is always an opportunity to put on a couple of kilos. Even with the amount of food consumed outside, it was difficult to resist Breakfast buffet. The spread was great and I could indulge in 2 vice, Massala Tea and Sweet Lasi.

Check-out
Was extended an 20:00 check-out, well beyond the 4pm I am entitled too. This allowed me to shower before making my way to the airport for my 2300 flight. Was most appreciated by my friends who crashed out having been kicked out of their hotel at 12:00 noon. Check-out was efficient, the internet was removed without prompting.

Overall
An excellent stay in a charming property. The staff went beyond the call of duty and makes an effort to ensure you have a pleasant stay. I would not be able to fault the hotel on any front. While I heard a lot about the ITC Gardenia, the old world charm of ITC Windsor and friendliness of its staff is such that it will be my default option if I return to Bangalore. Wonderful stay.

This is a nice quiet hotel away from the bustle of Bengaluru. I used a SNA that cleared into the Cambridge Suite, which I believe falls into the Manor House Suite category. The main room was large with a dining table set for 4, couch, desk, side chairs and even a massage chair. I thought this chair was sort of ugly and out of place but must admit I enjoyed it after a hot day of walking around Commercial Street! The separate bedroom had a very comfortable bed and while the bathroom was a little small, everything worked fine.

The common areas of this hotel are just beautiful and the staff were fantastic. One of the butlers managed to get the soles of my shoes replaced in about 3 hours for a very reasonable cost and they were all around just very helpful. I also arranged an airport pickup and they met me at the luggage belt before even getting out into the chaos of the arrivals hall and the ride to hotel was about 45 minutes. Uber works ok in the city (and is very cheap) but the hotel is sort of a secluded location and drivers sometime had trouble finding the location on pickup requiring someone at hotel to give instructions over the phone, most Uber drivers did not speak English in my experience.

There are multiple on-site restaurants, some of which appear to be well known in the city, however I did not have a chance to try them; room services was prompt and tasty though. Plats get full buffet in the Raj Pavilion Restaurant which looks out over the pool. There were many options including Western and Indian and the chef went around asking if you wanted anything specially cooked as he was happy to make it.

Once in the room I didn't hear a peep from the outside and enjoyed the greenery outside my windows. I really enjoyed my stay and would be happy to return again someday.

Stayed here a few weeks back, and absolutely loved it. Would stay again.

Service here was top notch, as others have mentioned. I love how its a pretty quite hotel with a unique charm, unlike most chains. The staff here are amazing! And yes, depending on where you are going, traffic will be terrible, but that's a Bangalore feature.

I am trying to book a room on points at this property but none is available. I called SPG customer care and they said this property has not designated a standard room hence nothing is available on points. She said she cannot do anything.
@Lurkers - can you please help?

Thanks.

Currently spending a week at the hotel on business.

hotel arranged transportation for me from BLR. They met me right outside baggage claim and there was no traffic during the 30+ minute drive to hotel (it was 3am!).

No specific recognition of my Ambasador status, but, did receive an upgrade to a manor suite for the week (1 cat upgrade as I booked an ITC One Room).

So far everything is wonderful and the the hospitality is top notch!

I will report more at the end of the week. I wanted to leave something in this thread as it seems to be a bit stale. Which would be a shame for this lovely hotel.

This is what I have listed in the exec lounge sticky. Could you confirm if it's still accurate? Also, what is the breakfast situation. Please post & I'll update the exec lounge sticky. Thanks!

Cheers.
