This thread refers to the various Marriott brands within a specific geographic area. Marriott Bonvoy hotels in XX usually have posts asking which property is better, etc. Trip reports are usually better suited in the property specific threads.

Can someone who knows list the names of the hotels here in this long thread? Here are the names, addresses, email contact, commonly used abbreviations and some basic info about each hotel. (Location information, CL and breakfast information, UG experiences reported within the thread, typical room layout and frequently mentioned basic advice for different properties.) Keep in mind most posts indicate these are all great hotels. Hope this helps. CJK
  • JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok (JW) 4 Sukhumvit Road, Soi 2, Bangkok 10110, Thailand between the Phloen Chit and Nana BTS Stations. There is a pretty large CL. Elites mostly report having complimentary breakfast offered only at the CL and not in a restaurant. Some are bothered by the hotel's proximity to the Nana district and think the hotel may get some associated business while others (myself) have not really noticed this unless looking hard to see it. The hotel was recently renovated and there are a few posts showing pictures. UGs are usually to the club level regular room where the bathrooms are interior (no outside glass wall) and feature rather small showers but great soaking tubs. Unlike the other hotels listed here, the toilets are not in enclosures.
  • Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel (Ren) 518/8 Ploenchit Road Khwaeng Lumphini, Khet Pathum Wan, Bangkok almost attached to the Chit Lom BTS Station and the SkyWalk. One can reach the platform without having to walk on public sidewalks and by using escalators/elevators in the building next door, so most feel this is the property with the fastest and easiest access to BTS. The CL is smaller than the JW's and sometimes gets full. Some elites report having a choice of the complimentary breakfast in the restaurant (which is quite good and huge) while others report having that request denied. Latest reports indicate the restaurant breakfast is offered as of April 2018. The hotel does not have many suites so UGs are usually to corner rooms which often have seating and/or dressing areas as well as larger bathrooms with full glass walls. IMO this is the best/most convenient hotel for a first timer looking to do typical touristy things in Bangkok.
  • Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok (CY) 155/1 Soi Mahadlekluang 1 Ratchadamri Road Bangkok is about a five minute walk to either the Ratchadamri or Chit Lom BTS Stations. The hotel operates tuk-tuks to/from the BTS Station. The hotel has a CL and consistently offers elites a choice of breakfast there or in the restaurant. The CL is on the top floor of the hotel and has outdoor seating. Having stayed at the hotel several times as a P, PP and LTP I have never been given an UG, so if there are others who can chime in on that please do. The regular room has a small interior only bathroom with a window overlooking the room and no tub, only a walk-in shower. IMO the price can makes this a great choice, as it is convenient to many places a visitor will go. Sometimes it can be half the price of other Marriott options and they often run double points promotions. (Call the hotel to ask, it cannot hurt.)
  • Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park (Sukhumvit Soi 22) 199 ถนน สุขุมวิท ซอย 22 Khwaeng Khlong Tan, Khet Khlong Toei, กรุงเทพมหานคร 10110, Thailand is about an eight minute walk to the Emporium Mall and Phrom Phong BTS Station either down the Soi sidewalk or through Queen's Park. The hotel operates a regular shuttle to the BTS Station although some have reported trouble catching it back to the hotel. The CL is large, with an outdoor deck, and most people report not being given a choice for the complimentary breakfast in the restaurant. Most Plats report getting UG to a suite, with the M Suite seeming to be most common. It has a living room, bedroom and single large interior bathroom with separate walk-in showers and tubs. This is the largest hotel in Bangkok.
  • Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit (Sukhumvit Soi 57) 2 ถนน สุขุมวิท 57 Phra Khanong, Khlong Toei, กรุงเทพมหานคร 10110, Thailand ([email protected]) is a two minute walk to the Thong Lo BTS Station. Getting to the station involves crossing Thong Lo intersection which can be daunting. The hotel is about a ten minute BTS ride to the central malls, the Ren, etc. The area is a little quieter and more "Thai" than the more touristy/business area where the JW, Ren and CY are located. Some people report being able to have complimentary breakfast in the restaurant while others report lounge only. The CL is about the same size as the Ren's and can get crowded in the early evening. The hotel is on the higher floors of a 40+ story building and the CL is located on one of the top floors, offering stunning views of Bangkok. There is a rooftop bar on the top of the building with great views, too. Elites are often given a coupon for a free drink on the roof. Plats report mostly getting UGs to a two room suite with an extra half bath. The main bath includes an enclosed toilet, a single large walk-in shower and a large soaking tub that can easily seat two. (While the tub is large, the JW, Marquis and Ren tubs are more comfortable for a single person looking to lean back and relax.) IMO this is the quietest of the hotels listed here.
  • Bangkok Marriott Hotel The Surawongse 262 Thanon Surawong, Khwaeng Si Phraya, Khet Bang Rak, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10500, Thailand is the newest hotel. As of April 2018 there are not many posts from users who have stayed, nor is there an abbreviation being commonly used on this forum. The hotel is not attached/close to a BTS or MRT station but is near the Silom business area and some more popular adult entertainment establishments.

OK. I have to admit that in general the stay was fine. Other than no suite upgrade, I also find the lounge is quite small. Hardly able to find table to seat and have to wait until someone is leaving.

The only complain the lounge hour is very strange. The lounge hour for evening cokctail is 5-8pm, However, at 5pm, only drink (alcoholic drink) starts and food only start from 5:30pm. Likewise that the food will end at 7:30pm and drink ends at 8pm. I found it very wierd.

The concierge staffs are probably among the best and most helpful that I ever encountered.

Oh yeah, the hotel location is infront of BTS, but from the loibby door to the main door, may take 5 min walk by itself

No argument on any of these points. But with the FHR rate (which includes breakfast, upgrade, and $100 property credit) Pen can be had for under $6k THB per night. FHR can be difficult to find at end of year before they load next year's rates though.

More comparable to ROS would be Millenium Hilton which is also good value for the money, similar to ROS.
I find the Millennium Hilton to be much superior in terms of food offerings at the lounge and they allow their Diamonds to partake breakfast at the restaurant by the river. The Hilton lounge, however, is comparably smaller (for the size of the property) and is usually packed during happy hour. As for upgrades, we book 2 suites at the Hilton due to the low rates. At the ROS, we have been upgraded as Platinums to a Jr. Suite and an executive suite. But ROS stopped allowing Platinums to partake breakfast at their restaurant by the river unless booked a breakfast rate. The ROS elevator system is also weird as you have to change elevators to/from lounge if they give you an executive suite.

This is no longer true; the policy was reversed some time ago.

ROS provides complimentary breakfast in lounge and 1000 points welcome amenity. One can also choose to have breakfast in the restaurant in lieu of welcome amenity. [as of sept 2018]

And if you go back in the ROS thread you will see that breakfast in the resto was available for Plats well before Sept 2018. Hence, their policy of restricting Plat breakfast to the lounge only was reversed.

Stand corrected ...

Still, last time I was there the food quality, preparation, and service were all subpar with comparable properties, unless that was changed too.

I like Millenium Hilton, but if this hotel has one weakness in my opinion it's the food in the lounge for happy hour. I am not sure if you were referring to lounge food for breakfast in your previous comments (if so I agree, breakfast in the lounge at MH is better than breakfast in the ROS lounge), but if you are talking about evening food then I respectfully disagree. MH food for happy hour is subpar relative to several other hotels in the city, not only subpar relative to ROS. ROS happy hour is surprisingly good relative to the price tag.

Regarding breakfast in the restaurant, I agree with you that food quality at ROS is not that great compared to other restaurant breakfasts, and MH easily wins there with breakfast in Flow restaurant.

ROS resto breakfast is OK in terms of quality (nothing more) but I find the lounge food quality poor. And I'd prefer not to repeat an egg cook performance again.

To each his/her own! But if the OP's major concern is the breakfast, then the Marriott Marquis Queen's Park should be his choice - its Goji Kitchen on the ground floor has the best breakfast in Bangkok, hands down! Breakfast here is actually a culinary experience on its own!

Goji's vast open plan kitchen buffet style has easily became our favorite breakfast spot in Bangkok. Placed in a garden setting overlooking Benjasiri Park with indoor and outdoor seating. From the food, service, quality ingredients, and preparations are all excellent. Staff is detail oriented and go the extra mile to satisfy your every request. One morning, I requested an item that was not available at the buffet - I asked for Nan bread. Lo and behold, in less than 5 minutes a delicious hot and crispy Nan slices were at my table. The staff also communicate to make sure all guests are well taken care of with special beverage requests. I am an instant coffee drinker and the restaurant serves Italian coffees - they accommodate me by getting me Nescafe every morning. The buffet spread is huge with many stations as follows:

- Eggs & omelet stations including boiled, fried, Benedict, and Florentine. Also, bacon, cold cuts, sausages, potatoes, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, baked beans, etc.
- Thai, Chinese, Indian, Japanese hot food stations - but no sushi or Sashimi like the St. Regis.
- Noodle station made to orders and cart like station serving different street food daily but with 5-star quality.
- Bread, pastries, pancakes, waffles, cakes and their condiments such as PB, Nutella, jams, etc.
- Cereals, nuts, dried fruits, etc.
- Salad items including station to make Caesar salad.
- Several smoked salmon types and bagels station
- Beverage and shakes station - we were given Goji shake to go almost every morning.
- Coffee and tea station
- Juices, yogurts, and fruit station
- Deserts and sweets including ice-cream station and pannacotta flavored custards.

Our kids enjoyed the food and its variety and I cannot say enough good things about this place. If this place is so good at breakfast, I am sure it is just as good or better at lunch and dinner. We highly recommend this restaurant. More photos of our Goji experience can be found here: https://www.flickr.com/search/?user_...oji&view_all=1

My breakfast at Goji Kitchen complete with Moo Ping, Nan bread, Goji shake, etc.

Have a bagel and smile!

Goji is not a Plat breakfast option however, not gratis at least, as it's limited to the lounge only.

And the color on that lox is off.

I have had 30+ nights at the Marriott Marquis Queen's Park since January 2017, and we partook breakfast at Goji as a Platinum benefit on as many mornings The breakfast at Goji is one of the main reasons we stay at the MMQP property.

As for the Lox, they smoke their own Salmon and I can assure you that it was exquisite! They have different flavor Lox selection (just like they have different bagel flavors): the beetroots, Pastrami, regular, etc.

I have 15+ nights this year and have never been allowed to have breakfast at Goji. You are, in fact, the only person I know who has this allowance. Ive inquired to lounge staff who know me for years (at other properties) and it's been reiterated on several occasions that this is not a Plat benefit.

I get treated very well at this hotel but a Goji allowance is not something I've even been given.

Perhaps you were given breakfast in Goji because of the kids?
