Hotel Website: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection
Official List of Cosmopolitan Bonvoy Elite Benefits: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/marriott-bonvoy-at-the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services
The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee
Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.
Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.
Platinums receive:
* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)
* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points
* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.
* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area
* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.
Resort fee:
* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.
Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:
Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email [email protected] shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.
Hat tip to billycwhatup for this:
* Identity points and MR points can not be earned on the same stay
Other tips
The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.
The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.
The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".
If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.
And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.
If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).
If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.
Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

We stayed in one of the revamped model rooms last weekend (a 1 bedroom terrace suite on the 69th floor of the Boulevard / East Tower). I really do like the new design - and although the hotel isn't that old it was due for a freshening up. Only complaint is that (at least in this room) they removed the wet bar.

They took the microwave out of this suite as well. We actually forgot to check if there was still a bar fridge hidden somewhere. (This was a Terrace One Bedroom - it would be a shame if they also took the kitchenette out of the larger Terrace Suites)

I liked the fact that I could heat up my leftovers rather than eating them cold.
That's disappointing. Not that I used them but I remember a reader years back that was disappointed when they took out the washer/dryers.

I've stayed in Studio, One Bedroom and Terrace Suites, and I've seen only a handful of things about the appliances, all of which accounts I considered unreliable.
I couldn't really envision what they would do with the space if they took out the microwave and stove, in the Studios and One Bedrooms, the kitchenette is just a small recessed portion of the room. The cabinetry is already empty.
But I found an article where an exec is saying they are completely gutting the rooms, so I'm afraid if I had to guess, I'd guess all the appliances are going to be gone. Here's hoping they either put in new mini-fridges or leave the old ones in place in the Terrace Suites.

Agree, I usually stay in a Terrace Suite and I'd miss the refrigerator, sink and counter space a lot.

Was just at the Cosmo in a 1 bed terrace fountainview facing.
There is a fridge but it is a TINY little shelf at the bottom that is supposed to be a freezer section. Rest of fridge is stocked with hotel convenience drinks. There is a sink (which no water came out of but we didn't use it so not a big deal to us) and there is a microwave.
To me the rooms looked fine but you can tell signs of wear and tear are showing up....the Japanese soaking tub had scuff marks, along with small tears on the balcony furniture, as well as just small tears/scratches you see in the room if you look closely. Carpet could be due for replacement.
The showerhead settings leaves much to be desired....no soft, rainfall option....either a large spray pattern that's very harsh or a small spray that's soft but not enough coverage area.
We stayed on the 51st floor and not surprisingly there was a VERY strong smell of certain illicit substances (of a certain green...leafy persuasion.....) in the hallway that you can also smell VERY faintly in our room when we checked in....my GF called it a "slight funk."
Given how much these rooms are used and the type of clientele in these rooms...some updating is likely much needed.
This is on-going as we got a message after we checked in that there will be intermittent construction noise between 9am and 7pm due to "updating our room collection." Very mild noises in mid morning so not bad at all.
I loved the design of the hotel where you can literally walk from the underground car parking to your hotel room in 5 minutes without having to slog through huge swaths of the gaming floor...as many other hotels do. Cosmo seems to not bank as much on their casinos since their casino seems much smaller and less populated...and they may rely more on pure room rates and other activities to generate revenue.
The view is second to none though if you can get a fountain view in the Boulevard tower.
edit: an update for those who want to know about the "$20 trick." I brought a $50 with me with very smiling and friendly banter/face and the check in agent was having none of it. Purely ignored the $50 it seems. Likely it was intentional as she called some manager to see if my room type can be "complimentary upgraded" but since I used my Chase UR points to book the room...I suspect their system had limits on comp upgrades for reward rooms.
I ended up paying extra $45/night for a 51st floor Boulevard Tower, 1bed terrrace with fountain views...still a huge saving from regular rates and an upgrade from my regular booking of a studio terrace. Saved the $50 in tip but gave her $20 anyway for some of her efforts and was feeling generous that day

Also, lots of super cool new VIP suites.
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is investing more than $100 million to upgrade its rooms, joining a growing list of Strip casinos refreshing properties as tourism flourishes in the nation’s entertainment capital.
The two-tower, high-rise casino will gut 2,895 rooms in its first major renovation since opening nearly seven years ago, said Patrick Nichols, senior vice president of strategy and business development.
The Cosmopolitan launched the upgrade of the Boulevard Tower in June and aims to complete it before the end of the year. It will start on the Chelsea Tower in January and finish it later in 2018, said Nichols.

And also still illegal under federal law, just the feds don't have enough agents on the ground to actually enforce effectively so they don't usually target consumers.
(Not in any way arguing it's a good thing, just the pedant in me twitches every time someone says weed is legal.)
More on topic, honestly if they fully de-condo-ize the Cosmo, I'll probably do more of my long/non-comped stays over in the Grand Chateau MVC. I've already done that a few times since the Cosmo got rid of the washers and dryers.

Not to derail too much, but re: the marijuana thing, is it considered illegal to smoke it on your balcony as one would a cigarette or cigar? I'm honestly curious. I heard they pretty much ran out of product the first week it became recreationally legal, this news makes me wonder where everyone is consuming it.

But, let's be completely clear. Marijuana has been consumed ("illegally") in Las Vegas hotels forever... so much so, it's often quite noticeable in certain hotels and on certain floors. Not to mention, Las Vegas is one of the few places that still has hotels with smoking and non-smoking rooms. Also, you have edibles, which are super popular and have no lingering smell.
So, the entire "not legal to consume except in a private residence" is sort of a "wink-wink-nod-nod" joke, if you ask me.
