Using multiple EEO's per "period"
 

Are there any limitations to how many EEO's can be used per Gold/Plat member per period? For example, the current EEO postings are valid through Oct 11.

I have already used 1 Marriott EEO and 1 Renaissance EEO. In the past, we had paper coupons so you'd need to get a 2nd coupon from someone to do additional stays. Now we no longer have that limitation, but would anyone at Marriott consider it unethical or a violation of the spirit of the rules to do another Marriott EEO weekend between now and Oct 11?

Nothing on the offer states that only 1 usage per brand is allowed. Rule 4 does specify only 1 certificate per check-in (e.g., you can't do two EEO rooms at the same time). I can tell that the hotels themselves don't validate it: they have a difficult enough time figuring out what EEO even is.

The EEOs are capacity controlled by property (the certificates states that a limited number of rooms are available at each property for EEOs). I see no real limitation on how many one could use in a given period, although you are allowed to use one at a time (i.e. you cannot reserve multiple rooms at one property and use EEOs for all of them).

It's interesting: whenever I call the 800 number to redeem an EEO, they just look for a publicly-available rate and then note the EEO in the record. I've never encountered an agent that mentioned a capacity control as long as there's some publicly-available rate for a regular hotel room available.

The only main restrictions I'm aware of are (a) one cert at a time and (b) rooms only - no confirmed suites.

In a way, I can see Marriott encouraging elites to do as many different EEO weekends as possible. We're generally talking about half-empty hotels: luring us in at half-price is better than an empty room. (The certs aren't valid at the most-desirable weekend hotels like NYC, etc.)

I have used multiples of them during a period with no problem. When I call for a reservation the agent just checks to make sure the hotel isn't excluded then books a room for me at the weekend rate and notes in the reservation I will be using the certificate for the second night. Using one this weekend at eh Blackstone in Chicago.

If the consensus is that more than one room is OK during a period....am assuming the same would be true for the BOGO Dinners?

Dinners should be no problem. If anything, the coupons will help bring in revenue since food and beverages have a fixed overhead that must be covered. At many Marriott hotels, dinnertime is the least busy for the hotel's restaurant since a lot of people eat breakfast and business meetings are often held at a hotel with lunch.

For myself, these are three most important restrictions:

• Weekend nights are designated as Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday nights only. In some countries in the Middle East, weekend nights are designated as Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
• Offer cannot be combined with any other discount rates, certificates, coupons, Advance Purchase, government, negotiated corporate.
• This offer is valid for the expense of a standard Marriott guest room and room-related taxes only and does not apply to food, beverage, service charges, other taxes or expenses.

EEOs are valid until 10/11/09. From word of mouth EEOs will be valid from 10/30/09 until 1/10/10. You are allowed to redeem one EEO certificate/weekend.

Though EEO certificates are transferable and may be used as a gift for family, friends, or business associates of MR Elite members, this offer is valid for the expense of a standard Marriott guest room and room-related taxes only (item # 6 in T&C). Only one certificate/member must be surrendered when checking in (item # 4 in T&C).

I used the EEO cert last weekend for Boston Marriott Copley. I checked in Thursday night and received Friday night free. I was upgraded to a very nice suite on the 35th floor overlooking the Charles River. This weekend we are staying at the Marriott Suites in Dallas on an EEO cert and so far so good.

I hope you don't be dissapointed if another hotel outside Middle East don't accept EEO Certificate redemption for a Friday night: Weekend nights are designated as Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday nights only.

Cool... I was able to call and book my next one with no problems.

Staying at Renaissance Newark Airport - $119/nt. with a $50 Amex gift card returned. The phone agent confirmed that this is a valid rate with the EEO.

One might ask: why would anyone voluntarily stay at this hotel for two nights on a weekend? :D I arrive late Friday night and depart on a 6AM Sunday flight out of EWR. With this trip, I'll end the year with 50,005 EQM on UA. ^

I figured spending an extra few bucks to get a mini-weekend in NYC was better than doing a "pure" mileage run all in 1 day... The flight times, especially the insanely-early wake-up on Sunday, sort of killed off my enthusiasm to spend more on a Manhattan hotel.

I have been able to print off and use them multiple times during a single quarter. In fact, I printed and used four of them for two rooms on consecutive weekends when I stayed at the Crystal Gateway Marriott. They had no issues with my using one for each room and then coming back the next weekend and using two more. ^

So I doubt that Marriott tracks individual use of those coupons, otherwise I wouldn't be able to keep using them. :)

Are you just printing them off of the Gold/Plat elite page on marriott.com for this offer's T&C? I made a reservation for next weekend and the res agent said to printout a copy of an e-mail I should have received in the past, which I never did. I told her that on the link at the website is says to print out that page and present it at check-in. She put me on hold to find out and said that I could do either.

I'll admit that I haven't used one in the past year as I've been staying at other hotel chains recently. But to answer your question, yes, I just printed off the EEO page and brought that in to the hotel. (So in my previous example, I printed the page off 4 times for my two rooms over 2 weekend stays.)

According to the T's & C's this is *not* allowed. But as always YMMV. I can't think at a different hotel it would be a problem. But at the same hotel on consecutive nights...?
