Question: Renaissance Salzburg
Planning to stay at the Renaissance Salzburg Hotel Congress Center on Reward stay. It looks like it's very close to a train station.
Can someone help me with collecting with the following: 1. Does it have a Concierge Lounge (or Executive Lounge as they may call it in Europe)? 2. Is it close to city center and the tourist attraction areas? How close? 3. It says that it's 2 blocks from the train station. Is this like a main train station? We will be arriving into the "Salzburg Hbf, Austria" station. How close is it or do we have to connect via other trains or transportation methods? Thank you. |
Stayed here in late May 2009
1. Does not have a lounge. 2. Not that close to the main attractions. You could walk about 20-30 minutes to the main areas but cabs are the norm. We took tours (Sound of music and Hitler's peak), which pick you up from the hotel. Avoid the Mozart museum. It sucks... and I like classical music and Mozart. 3. Yes, it's the main station. We came in from Munich and walked to the hotel. Just head out of the station, walk right past the MCD (i believe), turn right one block and the hotel should be right there on the left hand side. There is a great place called "ZUM GUTEN HIRTEN" down the block that the hotel recommended. Really good food. |
1. No Lounge.
2. Approximately 15 minute bus ride to the zentrum from bus stop right outside the Salzburg Hbf. 3. Yes, it is 2 blocks from the train station. Easy walk with light luggage on wheels. |
It's been a couple years, but:
1 - we got a comp breakfast in the restaurant - it was a full buffet, excellent 2 - maybe a few kms from a lot of the tourist areas, but the public transport easy to use 3 - it is two blocks from Hbf - Hbf is the main station, just walk straight out of the station and it is ahead to the right I'm jealous! Salzburg is my favorite smaller city in Europe, enjoy the wonderful town. If you can get to Hangar 7 (http://www.hangar-7.com/#en/homepage/), it would be a great treat too. |
FWIW I posted my thoughts on a stay at this nice hotel in this thread:

Salzburg Card
Consider to buy a Salzburg card for free public transit rides and admissions to all tourist attractions: http://www.salzburg.info/en/sights/salzburg_card/
It is a good deal if you are planning to stay for more than one night. |
