marriott codes
I am a Johnson & Johnson employee. I know Marriott offers discounts to us but does anyone know the code for the discount that I would enter on the Marriott reservations website?
|
Welcome to FT!
You enter the code where it says "Corporate/promotional code" on the Marriott reservation form. |
Thanks! Does anyone know "what" the code is?
|
We aren't supposed to know. It is a code for your company. Email someone from your company asking for it or book a room and then give them the code when you check in. Asking for it on a public website isn't a good idea.
Just last night, a special promotional airline code for those attending a softball tournament sponsored by the airline was posted on another 'deal' website and a number of people took advantage of it to book tickets to Asia. They all got great deals until the number of seats offered by the airline for that promotion ended. So if any of the families of girls attending the tournament expect to get their 30% off today, they are out of luck. Apparently, a new promo code has been issued for that group, worth far less ($20 off a transcon, instead of 30% off.) |

Welcome to the internet era where targeted promos are no longer a secret; if a company wants to ensure that targeted promos are kept to a specific group they have to put more controls in place than they currently have.. such is life |
how confidential can it be if you can google it

There may or may not be ethical issues using corp codes you're not supposed to use. In the case of Marriott, the codes are easy to guess, often give great rates and verification of eligibility is difficult.
I've had two stays in two different European Marriotts using such "non-authorized" corp rate, nobody even blinked, not to mention asking for any eligibility. It would be quite difficult to dis-prove that the co on my visit card is not an affiliate/supplier/contractor/consultant to the company whose rate I was staying on. As the FT policy is not to discuss such corp rate codes, I do not go into details. |
when googling "marriott corporate code list"
this is one of the results (my point being, its easy to find in the public domain)

Oh good grief. Let's not start another thread re: confidential codes & the ethics.
To the OP - duh - if you're entitled to the code & you work for a F500 company, just call your in-house travel department & ask for the code. Not rocket science. BTW - the person asking has 2 posts & just joined FT. First & 2nd post specifically asking for a code that presumably they're actually entitled to & can get from their own company. Just me or anyone else find this odd? Cheers. |
