St Kitts / St Thomas
We plan to holiday in St Kitts or St Thomas (from UK) early 2010 using MR packages for both flights and hotel (so need to book shortly). I have checked reviews on this forum and tripadvisor and found mixed results.
Has anyone visited both resorts? If so which was favoured and what time of year would be best to visit. Many thanks in advance. |
I have been to both in 2006, I have since been back to St Kitts 2 other times. I would never re-visit St Thomas. Search some threads, I have some out there.

We were in St Kitts 2 yago w/2 boys (4 &6 at the time) on MR stay and it was one of the best vacations we had. The resort was fairly new and the staff was friendly and helpful. My 4 year old got sunscreen in his eye and when I went to the bar to get some fresh water to wash it out, they called someone -- 2 minutes later, there was a team of 2 people w/1st aid kit and they spent 10 minutes flushing his eye and telling him stories. I was like, "wow", this is amazing service. One of the other great things was you could buy at the time a meal plan (food/drinks) for $75 PP per day. So for $150 per day, you had all you can eat food/house wine at the restaurants -- and kids eat free. So you can order two $50 lobsters for dinner and you don't have to worry about food costs. I don't know if you can still buy the plan, but now you can actually redeem it using MR points 90K for a week (plan C17). We're doing that in Aruba later this year.
So I would not hesitate recommending St Kitts (never been to St. Thomas), but why screw w/success? |
We went to St. Kitts in 1/08 (and bought) and are returning this March...absolutely loved the place. It is what Aruba was 30 years ago and is now gearing up as the next hot spot. A new cruise terminal has just been completed. Great restaurants and golf course; the Marriot is a combination hotel and timeshare (which is about 50% completed)...a new huge high end residential/golf course complex is being developed on the other end of the island.
For the Northeast it is probably easier to get to than St. THomas...AA has direct flights from JFK. To learn more about St Kitts this site has a lot of info: http://myislands.myeyez.net/index.shtml?17 |
just got back from St. Thomas last week. Had a great time on the all inclusive plan for the additional 90k points. I have an 11 and 7 yo and all their meals were included. Had a 2 queen room at Morningstar-the room was a little tired and dated, but we were not there for the room. The beach rentals (boogie boards snorkel gear, etc.) were part of the AI so the $ savings on the trip using the AI was worth every point. I think the service level at the property was actull better than when we were there in 2004 and the food was very good. The lobtster and Prime rib buffet at Coco Joes was great (especially when you didn't get a bill)
We are planning on using the AI at St Kitts next winter--we were there in Feb 06 and were underwhelmed by the property, however, we want to try it again with the AI benefit. With the downturn in travel I do not think availability is going to be a problem. I booked the STT trip in October and added on the AI part in early January. |
