Renaissance Naples

Anyone ever stayed at the Renaissance Naples, Italy. I searched and wasn't able to come up with anything. Thanks.

I have been there twice. The last time for 3 days over Thanksgiving 08.

Good location (my opinion, others may disagree). Fine smallish lobby. Fantastic breakfast on the rooftop. Very very nice staff (especially Paolo). Didn't try the restaurant or bar as it looked depressing with no-one ever there.

No club lounge.

Lack of newspapers. I really enjoy a Herald with my morning tea and this property doesn't delivery any newspapers to the rooms but does have the (useless) US Today in the breakfast room and one copy of the Herald on a stick in the lobby so you can only read it there.

Cable internet worked ok but lack of electrical outlets near the desks. Internet well priced for europe (I think there was a 3 day special price of around 18e--priced by the day as well).

Rooms are very disappointing. The first stay we began in a VERY basic twin room on the Executive Level with nice view of the port but it did not have enough electrical outlets for my computer, printer, cell, etc so they very kindly moved us to a Jr Suite with large bathroom on the same floor. Again furnishings very basic but the view was lovely and more space.

This time they upgraded us upon arrival to a very large 2 bath suite on the 6th floor. But it was a mess. Plumbing was noisy and kept overflowing with sewage. Fixed promptly but happened about once a day so we were happy to leave. TVs in all the rooms we stayed in were small screen and relics of the 1960s.

Hotel needs a renovation to the furnishings and plumbing. Not worth the 155e we paid. Will look for another option next time we return to one of our favorite Italian cities, Naples. We did go the the nearby Jolly and asked to see some rooms which were nice. Perhaps that will be our next stop.

Great location, mediocre breakfast

My husband and I stayed here 3 nights last year. Room was fine, breakfast on the roof was mediocre but the view was fabulous. Easy walk to National Archaeological Museum and via dei Tribunali. We loved Naples and would stay at this hotel again. Did not try hotel restaurant as it was totally deserted but there are other restaurants nearby that are good. Staff friendly. Took the cab ride from hell on the way to the airport. Was told at checkout that they could arrange the cab at a set price. Cab ride in from airport was pleasant.

Nice hotel

Myself and Mrs. UNI just completed a stay there last week. It is a short walk (10 minutes) to the Dante metro station. Metro stops will be even more convenient when they complete their current project, there will be another stop closer and Toledo, and one by Castle Nuovo as well. Alot of the same comments here as others have said. Room is nothing fancy, TVs need replacing, though they do have and english language movie channel, Sky Cinema Max, which had some odd movies on. Breakfast was wonderful, and the rooftop has a great view ov Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples. Neighborhood is fine, a short walk to Via Toledo gets you to a ton of stores if shopping is your thing. Tried the restaurant, which was fine for me, I got the grilled steak, but Mrs. UNI got the Tuna, thinking it would be something grilled....well, it was some kind of cold tuna that was extremely salty, so not really high on her list. Would have been nice to have a full english language paper as well, instead we got six printed off pages of the NY Times international edition. Received 30 min. free internet at check-in, but didnt know you had to use it all at once, so lost out on about 5 minutes of it.

Overall, I would stay there again for its convenience and breakfast. It really helped to be able to load up at breakfast before a day of adventuring out.
