Re-capturing Platinum Premiere
So I needed a break, I wanted to spend some time with my wife.
It was bad, I had difficulty sleeping at home in my own bed. I took a time-out and a project that kept me home. But I miss the travel, the flights, rental cars, and mostly Marriott. Marriott loved me. My award redemptions were always over the top, The Platinum Premiere desk took care of me. Those of you in the know, know. So I dropped to a lowely Platinum this year and I miss the travel and excitement. I expect the conversation I am about to have with the wife will be exciting enough..... Im sure I am not the first PP to take a break for a year and then start up again. Should I write a letter to the PP desk and ask for a re-instatement? Is there a challange. I want to know that my scheduled 200+ nights will be appreciated and give me access to the top secret 800 number. I could easily see what SPG is doing these days? Any thoughts? |

Agreed with the above poster your main focus should be on the conversation with the wife. Also, no offense but to me this just sounds like you're trying to show off being a platinum premiere and feel a sense of entitlement to it. What brings about your sense of entitlement? The fact you've planned 200 days of travel with Marriott? I captured 270 last year and only managed Platinum and am completely fine with that. The fact you were previously Platinum Premiere? From my understanding PP's are determined on a yearly basis on a number of unknown factors and encompasses the top 1% of Platinums so how do you know that you would have requalified this year for PP to begin with? If you truely love Marriott so much, then you wouldn't be so quick to admit you might hop ship to SPG (and if you all too freely throw the word love around then that is another topic in and of itself). Also, I don't think SPG is gonna magically make you Platinum Preferred VIP either (yes the equivalent to PP).
Also if you dropped to Platinum this year and didn't have the travel to requalify for Platinum then you will be dropped to Gold (I believe) next year so I don't foresee MR as being forthcoming in reinstating your PP status. They may however allow you to keep Platinum status or offer you the opportunity to buy it back (as some have reported). |
I recommend the SPG route
