How to maintain fast-track Platinum status?
 

hi, i am new to here,and i come from china,this website is reallly cool.and i can share many promotion news to everyone!

i've stay 40 nights this year till sep,2008,I mail MARRIOTTREWARDS SERVICE CENTRE,i get fast upgrade into platinum status from gold.
it's first time to been platinum(By 18nights at last 3 months)

when i sign my account, i see platinum is valid to feb 2009,five months left,it's hardly to reach the left 35nights.

been upgarde into marriott platinum,now i wanna ask for help.
HOW TO maintain IT All 2009?
any one have try for that?thank you!please post your experience？

the questions is:
If i first got Gold promotion until feb 2010 and then earned Plat via challenge at sep 2008

my platinum will vaild to when?

and i get 75nights during 2008-2009(at any rolling 12 months tatal)
i can be platinum continum,and vaild to when?feb 2010 or feb,2011?

I don't know about your computer but the caps lock is on the left side of my keyboard about half way up or down

Gangring, I really dont think there is anyway you can maintain status in 09 without stays. I would call them, if you were given a challenge for number of nights in a timeframe, typically that would extend to 2010. I also see you are Hyatt Diamond, you could get lateral status off of that, but you can only do that ONE TIME. If you got your challenge and status after June or July, I would clarify, your status should be good til 2010.

yes,althought i use so many caps type,never mind,i believe most people can understand ,any thing wrong, thank relpy, maybe i will stay left night this year to comtinued my platinum member.

You've reached Plat wit 18/3mo challenge because Marriott believed that you will continue to be a good staying guest with 75+ nights per year and wanted to give you extra advantage to convince you to shift business to them. They did this for me this year when I went from MR Silver to MR Plat rather fast. In return not only did I increase my stays at MR hotels, I switched to FS type from CY, and brought a colleague I travel with from HH.

So here is what I /think/. If instant status with challenge wasn't enough for you to get over 75+ nights then you will get Silver (25 nights) or Gold (50 nights) next year. I don't see why MR would offer you free status when you don't return the favor with staying there?

Also honestly ask yourself if it is worth it. From reading here, you'll soft land to GOLD from PLT anyway. Are the extra benefits you've been receiving as a PLT worth staying the 35 nights that you don't seem to have to do anyway?

Just another angle to consider. You might be almost as happy just being a GOLD and working in up in 2009.

i really love marriott brands and marriott rewards program,caust it can guranteened you can have club level.

next week ,i wll go to jw marriott beijing hotel,then i will post my feel here!

Actually, if you achieved Plat this year (2008), then your Plat elite status should be valid through 02/10. I do believe Marriott sends out the cards with the current year expirations, but you should receive another Plat card early next year that will be good for all of 2009.

My understanding is that even if you achieve an elite status through a challenge, it is treated the same as if you had the 75 nights this year.

i ever have same thinking of you.but actually,the pt member upgrade at 2008.valid to feb2009,cause it unnormal upgrade into pt member,just a challenge.

Yes, but Gold is almost as good as Platinum and still gets you the club floor.

If you have 40 nights already concentrate on getting at least 50 nights by the end of the year to without doubt hold Gold status, even if you pay for some nights yourself just to do so. You will at least still be Gold and won't drop back to Sliver.

It's also worth noting that Marriott has an undocumented rolling 12 month qualification period: 75 nights in any 12 month period gets you PLT, it doesn't have to be a calendar year.

So, you say you started staying with them 3 months ago (say, June 1 for example's sake), and have 40 nights so far. If you get 35 more by the end of February, then your PLT should be continuous, or close to it. If not, and you drop to GLD, you should be able to get back to PLT by completing the 75th night before June 1 '09, or whatever the anniversary of when your 40 nights started.

before i upgrade to platinum member ,i get gold status by flyingblue promotion.it vaild to feb 2010,so no matter i will stay 35nights more or 0 night,i won't lose my gold stutas.

platinum also can have club loung benifit, but most of time ,it will have suite upgrade ,so it is necessary for me to keep it.thanks to everyone who reply here.
