JW Ihilani: What Upgrades Are Askable?

Has anyone stayed at the JW Ihilani? What should I ask for if upgrades are possible? I'm already getting an ocean view room. Anthing else that anyone recommends to ask for at this property?

(Checking in tomorrow, so probably should have asked previously.)

I am so jealous, I love this property. I stayed there at the beginning of the year to celebrate my spouse's birthday. I indicated this was a special event in the notes of the res and at checkin they proceeded to welcome me and thank me for being a platinum, and wished him a Happy Birthday at check-in! Additionally, they upgraded us (we were on a rewards stay) to an ocean view Jr. Suite that was huge and received a handwritten note from the GM with our very generous platinum arrival gift wishing him a happy birthday as well.

This is by far one of the best Marriott/JW properties I have ever stayed at. We actually loved the service so much we ended up buying one of the Marriott Timeshares next door!

So to answer your question, it wouldn't hurt to ask for the Jr. Suite with the ocean view :)

Yes, I have stayed at this property at least a half dozen times. All of the suites at this hotel are very nice. I have always been upgraded to a deluxe ocean view, with the exception of this past June when I was upgrade to a deluxe spa ocean view. Having the private hot tub right out your door is OK, but these are ground floor units and as such have an obstructed view of hte ocean, so I actually prefer the deluxe ocean view suites. They will probably all ready have you upgraded to a deluxe ocean view suite. Note: they really aren't suites, more like junior suites, but the hotel refers to all their rooms as suites. Each room is very large and has your bed(s), padded bed bench(es), sofa and chair, glass coffee and end tables, desk and chair, large lanai entered via sliding glass doors, hallway and foyer with an alcove that contains a marble topped cabinet with ice bucket, mini bar, and safe, large marble laden bathroom with two vanities on opposing walls, walk-in seemless glass shower, separate large soaking tub and separate WC. The nicest suite I ever received was on my first stay back in December 2003, which was an end suite that had 2 lanais.
