Tricky one this time - the rate is available every day for a few weeks already, yet only between 8pm and 8 am EST. Since the LNF-desk needs to verify the rate on the competing site I needed to book it there and then give the LNF-team access to my account on the competing site to allow for the verification...just giving them the Marriott Confirmation Number of the competing site's reservation did not do any good.

Are you sure it's not also available on weekends? All the sites I've seen that restrict rates to certain time periods, they do restrict them to basically outside business hours (but perhaps outside everything from west coast to east coast business hours, because here on the west coast those rates don't drop until 5 pm PT). But since there are no business hours on weekends, those same rates drop on those sites (that I've watched) happen on weekends too. So with those sites, the simple way is to make the LNF claim between Friday late evening and Sunday early morning (so that it will not be business hours for the next 24 hours).

Absolutely - I was trying to get that LNF done for the better part of the last two weeks without success - including two weekends where the cycle was identical to weekdays (had the hope it would stay over the weekend, but it did not)...
