Room Type Guarantee

I have a reward stay at Marriott Munich (1 night 8/14) and requested 2 double non smoking. Online shows "Not Available" for both 2 double and non smoking. Since there will be 2 adults and 2 kids we need 2 double and non smoking is obvious ;)

Since I am MR Gold will hotel honor my request or I have to worry about it?

Are you sure the hotel has rooms with two doubles? Many European hotels do not.

Call reservations and have them iron it out for you. Munich Marriott reservation page lists their rooms as having 1 King or 2 Doubles. Their rooms can accommodate 4 guests per room.

Did you perhaps mean the Munich Airport Marriott, their rooms only come with a choice of 1 Queen or 2 Twins. If you had entered 4 Guests/Room when attempting to book a reservation at this hotel, you would have received a message indicating that this hotel cannot accommodate 4 guests per room.

Also note that unless you made Platinum and forgot to update your profile, the room type guarantee does not apply to Golds outside the US (actually North America):

Room Type, Platinum & Gold* Members

As long as your preferences are noted on your reservation, we will always give you the room type you request, unless you find an upgrade, suite, or other room type satisfactory. If we fail to deliver your preferred room type, we'll give you a cash reimbursement. (Reimbursement varies by hotel brand.)
*North America only for Gold members

It is Marriott Munich (not the airport one!). I had to list 3 ppl (same for Marriott Prague) because with 4 I couldn't book even 2 double. Hotel lists 2 double room (not 2 twin!) hence I chose it vs. any other in the area (others listed twin, including Saltzburg Ren which would be my preferred choice).

Let me be clear. I don't care for $ compensation if room is not there. I just would like 2 double non-smoking :)

OK, I just went out to their web site. FWIW, I am Plat and it comes up as Non-smoking 2 Doubles not available.

If 2 doubles is your main priority (which it sounds like it is), they do have 2 Doubles Smoking or 2 Doubles (smoking preference not specified) available. You could always leave your booking the way it is and call reservations and see if they can get the 2 Doubles part confirmed, and then if non-smoking becomes available, perhaps you will get it. Or you could change your booking to just 2 Doubles and in the comments area request non-smoking room, that way the 2 Doubles would be guaranteed. Good luck.

Thanks aaupgrade!

Well I am in a pickle. One of the main reasons I stay at Marriotts is because non smoking policy (have asthma). I usually travel alone so I don't care for bed preference as much as non-smoking one. When alone 1 single would be ok as long as it is non-smoking. On the other hand this time there is whole family involved so extra bed space is also needed.

Ugh :/

International hotel chains (i.e. Marriott and Starwood) that are non-smoking in North America (excluding Mexico) are not non-smoking in the rest of the world. There are more smokers in Europe and Asia, and hotels cater to them.

How about booking two rooms?
