Am I really Platinum?

I just checked online about a reservation. I noticed the 'Gold' thing says I'm now Platinum. Is this for real?

I got Gold last year, at exactly 50 nights ending December 31, 2007 (with night 50 a day or two before Christmas).

I'm at 27 nights this year so far.

Am I missing something, or am I really Plat? Kind of afraid to call to find out.

Or does Marriott.com hiccup on the status thing sometimes?

rolling tier counter

Call Cust Serv, Marriott has use rolling years in the past. This happened my first year with Marriott but I thought they killed that program.

Nope. I stayed 28 nights the last three months of last year and got my 22nd night of this year in April to go Gold.

Rolling tier counter indeed.

Edited to add: Will the reservations that I made while Gold reflect my new status?

Yes, your stay will reflect that status that you are ON the day you check in. Enjoy.

Rolling tier is indeed still alive and kicking.

I hit plat this year in mid-late January....

You definitely timed that one good since Marriott gives elite status for the rest of the year you initially receive it and all the following year. So you get it for two years. ^

Hilton had this system as well and I gamed it perfectly by requalifying in Jan and getting in essence 28 months but this year they killed that (not the rolling tier) piece of the game by extending you 14 (I think its 14) months from the time of requalification.. some HH'ers will correct me I'm sure if I'm incorrect...

hopefully MR doesn't change this

MR didn't, apparently. The person on the Elite line said I'm Plat until Jan 31, 2010.

Until the end of January? My current card shows me good through the end of February 2009. Has Marriott changed the expiration date to the end of January?

Plat/Gold

Not much different between them unless the Plat card in the wallet makes you special in the hotel bar.

I wanted to add a note about rolling tier. I made Gold via rolling year last week and as expected my status got upgraded to Gold on the website on Monday. However, when I tried to make a reservation using the Gold Elite Members offer (E0G, which it shows me on the Marriott Rewards website) the reservation system spits back 'Not a Gold Member'. I'm still able to make reservations with E0S, which is the Silver level code for that promotion. I'll give it another day or two for all the systems to sync up.
