Best way to get 3050 points before EOM?
Hi all, I did a search, but am not getting any relevant results. Basically, I would like to book a cat 5 standard stay for 2 nights at the end of May. Problem is: I currently have 42,950 of the 46,000 points needed for the stay. What is the best way to get 3050 points to post before ~ 23 May? I already have several CCs and would prefer not to apply for another. Thanks in advance!
nb: I swear I already did a search, but did not get any current / relevant results. |
Do you have any paid stays before May 16? If you do, they should post within a week of checkout. Otherwise, you can buy points from Marriott in 1,000 increments or shop through SkyMall and earn 20 points per dollar spent. Those points will post fairly quick. Point transfers with another member are also a possibility (in 1,000 point increments).

Buy 4000 pts for $50. The link is on the Marriott website.

IMO, buy as many as you can. With the significant increase in rates experienced lately, it is cheaper at some hotels to buy points and redeem an award rather than paying the best available rate. I'm afraid that this exchange rate won't last too much longer.

Hello,
You may also transfer points from a friend or family member, it they are willing to donate a few thousand. Call Marriott Rewards for more details. Kind regards, Marie |
Update: in future, be sure to ask about old unused certs...
Hi All,
Thanks for the responses. I ended up purchasing 4k extra points for $50. Turns out there was another way to get the points. For future reference, when I later called the Platinum Premier line, I was told that they can re-credit any old / unused certs. I had an unused certificate from way back in 01/2007, and the lady at the Platinum Premier desk was able to re-credit the points from it to my account. It was too late to un-purchase the points I already bought, but a good lesson for future knowledge. |

Is this only un-used certs gained from points, or certs from things like the Visa card annual certs? I didn't use my Visa cert last year and if I could pick up a few points from it, that would be great..........
