Concierge Lounge ?

Hi

Can anyone help? Is there a lounge at the Marriott Wailea or Marriott Waikoloa?

Thanks

I don't think either has a CL. Unfortunately, most Marriotts that have the "resort" designation, won't have a CL. :td:

Hi Lucie,

From the thread on Concierge lounges open on the weekend:

Hawaii........Waikoloa.....Waikoloa Beach Marriott.......NO LOUNGE
Now for the second one .. couldn't find a rate that was on the Concierge level, so I would bet that they don't either.

Cheers,

No Lounge - and upgrade with care!

I live in Hawaii, and until a stay there over easter, the Marriott Wailea was my favorite Marriott in the islands (with tight competition from Ko'o'lina and the one in Waikaloa). But this stay was terrible. I won't be gold until the current 2 week stay completes, so silver (ie "nobody") at the time. They offered me an upgrade to a "beautiful ocean view room" for $75 which I took after initially declining prior to being swayed by the desk agent and my 9 year old. The upgraded room could indeed see the ocean, if you went out on the balcony and leaned far out and looked to the left. Worse, it was directly on top of the loading dock with trucks "BEEP -BEEP - BEEP" backing in at all hours and the propane fueling going on. It is also over (meaning 20 feet away) where the employees enter and exit and was LOUD. This is the room they should upgrade you OUT OF. I very politely requested to be downgraded to a better room, and was moved the next day to a room I have had previously with a ocean over the pool view, one that was always an non-upgraded room before. The desk clerk agreed to "make the manager aware" of my displeasure with the first room, but a refund of the upgrade fee was declined.

Previously, this hotel was generous with its definitions of rooms, something even the guide books noted. A good reason to choose it over the numerous other hotels in the area. No longer so, and the front dest staff is decidely dour. Occasionally hostile.

Do put your face in the water in the cove adjacent to the hotel (and consider a snorkle trip to Molikini. BTW an additional new and improved feature is that the resort fee now only includes 2 "welcome" Mai Tais instead of the prior 2/day. The new pool is stunning.

cmculp,

If you were Gold elite at the time, the upgrade should have been complimentary. I went through the hoops with the Wailea Renaissance about the same issue and elevated it to Mr. Marriott's office, but unfortunately nothing could be done since a couple weeks after my stay they were deflagged. I never received the upgrade nor my elite benefit guarantee even though I started the process while I was staying at the hotel as is required by the T&Cs.

To me, this would have been unacceptable. An on-the-spot conversation with the manager would have been in order.

Wailea definitely has no lounge.

We had a great stay there (on points), as a Plat I was given a free upgrade to an ocean view room with sliding door out onto the beautiful pool. This was Sept. 2008.
